What is it like to live in Tornado alley? Are houses cheap in this area? How often do you have tornado warnings? What do you do if you are at work and your pets are home alone and there is a tornado warning? Thanks

Are you kidding me? There are "storm chaser" vacation tours? What next?

:chuckle No I am not kidding. I was searching the internet for vacation ideas when I found out that the "Professional Storm Chasers" were allowing tourists to go too. I guess you get in the truck and run around chasing tornadoes in Oklahoma and other areas of tornado alley. I don't know how much it would cost. I could just see me now. I would be complaining to the guy when we get sucked up by the tornado and he would say "What are you complaining about? This is the greatest tornado I have ever experienced!" :rotfl:

Well, just my opinion, but it seems senseless and dangerous to me! I'm terrified of storms and cannot understand anyone doing this. To each his own, I guess.

PS Tornados are usually in the spring.

In the summer, it's so hot and dry, if you spit out your window, there will be a gopher with a dixie cup.

I miss home..... in an odd sorta way hehehehehe

:chuckle I agree with you 100%! A person in their "right mind" wouldn't try it.But..... since seeing the movie "Twister" I am absolutely fascinated with tornadoes and am definately foolish enough to go on this kind of tour.

i was in an airplane flying over chicago years ago at night when the plane suddenly dropped significantly in altitude, woke everybody up and people started screaming. we were flying over tornadoes apparently and we ended up landing finally and then the airport locked down because of the severe weather. stuck in o'hare overnight. I will never forget waking up to the plane falling in mid air, one of the most frightnening experiences of my life. I don't know how you guys that live in places that get tornadoes handle the stress!

It's a miracle you are still alive. I can only imagine how terrifying that experience must have been for you. I'm glad you survived!!!

I was about 13 when the airplane thing happened and let me tell you its a good thing that we landed somewhere other than home, because that forced me to get right back on a plane the next day. If that hadn't happened i could easily see myself having a life-long phobia about flying!

Watching a tornado is absolutely amazing. You have a front row seat witnessing an awesome display of power. I find them beautiful when you see one on the prairie. Witnessing one hitting downtown Tulsa is a different story. I love severe weather, I live for the season between March and June. A slow t-storm with rolling thunder is comforting.

As far as the tornado danger, at least with tornadoes, you have at least a half an hour's warning if you stay tuned to media sources. You don't get that with earthquakes.
