A lot of threads tonight are heavy duty. I need little fluff in my diet!
What are your top three worst costume to wear to work by specialty. You know the type that would send a patient running for the elevator!
For example:
1. Orthopedic Surgery Fellow: The Texas Chainsaw Murders, complete with chainsaw and blood spatter.
2. EMT carrying a spatula. (ok had to do it, all those scraping em up off the road stories!)
3. ER personel in gangbanger colors/clothing, fake gun would be nice!
ok these are lame, I'm sure you have better, and I know someone, somewhere was dressed up and ended up running a code...stories please!

I don't know how dressing up would fly at my hospital lol. I can see the chainsaw being entertaining for cardiac surgery as well Maybe because I am picturing our down-to-business attending...
BUT to add something of worth to this thread, one of my coworkers dressed up as a patient last year. Hospital gown...acting like an idiot...I think he said he wore a "hat" on his head? But my favorite was that he was drinking beer out of a urinal

I also vote for the Grim Reaper--a classic.
Seriously, I work psych. While it's tempting, my patients are delusional enough as it is; they don't need me going around in a costume further disturbing their perceptions of reality :) In that vein, potentially any costume I wear could be some patient's worst nightmare.

I worked in psych a long time back and we actually did dress for Halloween on our unit. Since working in psych we normally wore street clothes we all decided to dig out our whites (complete with cap, white stockings, etc.) and go as "real nurses". The patients on the unit really got a kick out of it.

Lol I used to work in a Psych Facility and one time I accidentally wore a chip and dale scrub that said "go nuts" on it. I didn't realize it until I got to work and everyone else pointed it out!

Okay, I once wore a brown scrub set and a clown red nose and reindeer antlers - while I was working in the ER. EVERY time I took my stethoscope from around my neck (and I did it all darn shift), my antlers would fall on the patient! Most of the time they took it as a joke - but when they fell onto an open wound, it was no laughing matter! BAD IDEA

Not really a Halloween thing... but funny... there was a big, burly male orderly who was always playing practical jokes on coworkers.. Well one night a friend of mine had another nurse zip her in a body bag, toe tag and all. orderly was told to transport to morgue. Imagine his surprise when arriving at the morgue the "corpse" sat up!!! Pretty funny but she did get in some trouble for that one!
