so i took the TEAS V today...

Published

hi, well i passed my schools requirement so that was good thing. all i can tell you was the reading and english part was easy as cake. the math had alot of basic arithmetic and word problems, some questions on charts, differentiate between diff charts, perimeter and area of squares and triangles, alot of division. now the science was a whole other ball game.... i thought it was very hard. it was alotttt of chemistry. bonding, periodic tables, chemical equations and such. i had alot of plant life type questions, gene type ques, life science, only a few anatomy/physio questions. i am glad its over though. good luck to all who still need to take it. i studied from the mcgraw hill nursing entrance exam book and i will honestly say, i didnt study as much as i should of and i still was in the proficient range. hope this helps..... ;)

Congrats, ur right its not easy I took it and passed. Our bsn program requires at least 70%

Yeah I am getting all these different opinions about it.

Food webs (*****)

geology (again *****)

no anatomy

some anatomy

all physio

o chem, lil

I mean, what IS on it?

I know everyone has different opinions and perspectives but WOW

BTW I have a question for those of you who took it....

I am applying to schools this sept and next January to attended in fall 2012

well the school I apply to in sept lets me take it in nov. When I apply in jan they let you take it in march

Can I take it twice? mind you it will be a new year (take TEAS in nov 2011& march 2012)

Does anybody know if I can take it as long as I am invited to take it, regardless of how many times I take it?

Wow!!! That program it's very strict. The passing score for my program (ADN) is 64.7 % and people ranging from 63-75 are getting in the program.

Good luck scoring that high...it's not very easy. :D

PS: I scored 82%

an 82% is pretty darn good!

Good Luck in your program!

Congrats on the 82% on the Teas exam. That is a solid score, I am sure you will get in a ADN program.

I would like to say what a program "requires" and what is competitive within a program could be two different scores completely.

What is "required" to be on a program is the lowest you can make on the exam to even be considered for the program.

If there are 400 people applying for 40 spots, then of course (if they go by exam scores alone) the top 40 scores will get the nod. This is where having a competitive score is important.

Of course, different schools use the scores differently. Some use it as a judge of how you might do on the NCLEX ( certain tests), some might use it as a tie breaker for "points", etc

I would just study all things related to science. There are many topics to cover so u never really know what your going to get most of. As far as how many times you can take it, thats up to your schools policy. I would check with them. At my school we can take it twice in one year, atleast 45 days apart. Check with admissions or the nursing department at your school.

Yeah I am getting all these different opinions about it.

I did horrible in the science portion (16%) retook it the same week and scored (80% I believe). My mistake on the first part was that I only focused on human biology which accounted for my 16%. I decided to reteach myself chemistry, scientific reasoning and a little bit of physics and was able to get it up to 80%, hope that helps.

Congrats on passing the teas you one step closer
