Took Teas did not pass

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hello, I am going back to school after being out of school for 20 year, i m married and have 3 kids. I just took the teas this past weekend and did not think I would pass as really did not study as much as I wanted to. I really wanted to see what it was like and what I need to really study for next time. I just get worried that this is going to be my major roadblock to getting into nursing school. I am not the best test taker so that does not help. I was happy has I passed the science part. I am still not sure the reason for this test as it seems like a lot of stuff a person will not need. And positive feedback would be greatly appreciated. I keep telling myself I can do this.

Thanks

Kristen

I think I'll need to talk with TWU advisors next week. Do you know how long did they finish application and send you acceptance letter?

Applications were due on September 1st and I got my acceptance email on October 31st-- so around 2 months. The process was easy actually- first you have to apply to get into TWU as a general student. You fill out the app and have your transcripts sent to them. (I did this all online)- once you're accepted you can fill out the college of nursing application which is also online.. Take the TEAS V and or have your previous TEAS score sent to them. Then wait. Their application process was quite painless. We have orientation next week and 2 more in January.. we'll see how those go. :)

Thanks for your advises anyways. I am thinking about UTMB in Galveston too. Do you know how much do they require for minimum TEAS V score?

Last I checked, a 58. TWU is 64. UTMB is another great option.

did you get accepted by UTMB too?

No, I didn't realize their deadline was in JUNE so when I went to apply it was too late.

Do you think I can get accepted?

Absolutely- you have an excellent GPA and proficient TEAS V score. Assuming you don't have multiple retakes of the important classes, I think you have as good a shot as I did, and I got into a good program. You can too.

Thanks so much! Your reply makes my day, I have been worrying too much since I knew my Teas score. One more question, are Houston and Dallas equally competitive ?

I think the acceptances are all done at the Denton campus so the competitiveness might be all about the number of spots available and applicants for each campus. 90 were accepted for Houston and 100 for Dallas for the spring. I heard that 800 applied- but I don't know what the break down for each campus was.

Hi Kristen,

Don't be discouraged if you did not do well on the TEAS exam on your first try. Most nursing programs allow you to take it more than once, so now that you know how the test is you can better prepare for the next time. I got a 76% adjusted individual score on my first try and I retook it this Saturday, and I was way more relaxed and calm the second time since I knew what to expect and how to manage my time. I think the TEAS test is challenging, but if you have the passion and motivation to become a nurse you can definitely pass it. What materials have you used to study?

Hi! I'm retaking the teas v next week and my last score was very low! Was it better the second time around? And was it different than the first time you took it or was it the same material?

Can u use a calculator on the test
