Took Nclex-rn Yesterday--freaked!

Published

Ok, new to this site for posting...read all the time. I do know that the number of questions you get has no bearing on pass/fail...but I have one question that I would appreciate some feedback/responses.

My exam shut of at 221. Now this is a very odd number. Took my PN exam one year ago this month and had the minimum 85. This time had one calculation, 7-8 SATA, lots of delegation/prioritize. HAS ANYONE HAD AROUND THIS MANY AND PASSED? My heart sunk passing the 75 mark. I went in with my head held high and left with it dragging the floor. Graduated top in my class, but as you all know, this means NOTHING.

Im holding onto hope and praying more now than ever, but in truth Im scared to death! 221--what kind of number is that??!! Please give feedback. I would probably feel better with 265!

Best of luck and hang in there. I have not taken my exam yet so cannot really answer you ques but best of luck and you can pass with any number

You just can't predict as you can pass with any number.

Good luck

Hey Lewis, I'd say one calculation out of 221 questions sounds like you did pretty good with Pharmacology and that area accounts for alot on the NLCEX. But as others have said there's no way of knowing if you passed or not. Just hope for the best. If you ask me I think you passed. ;) My test is in 2 more days, I'll be joining you in your agony of waiting soon. Wish me luck. ^_^

Thanks sooo much. Im praying every minute. I will post as soon as I know!

You can still pass regardless of the number of questions. I was so scared and swore that I had failed. I did not even believe it when I loooked on Pearsonvue Quick Results and saw passed, I paid the $$$ several times, printed the page and phoned a couple of times just in case. You should have seen my bill.:chuckle

Anyhoo, keep positive thoughts and good luck!!

You do know you've answered your own question, right? The number of questions has no bearing on whether you've passed or failed, only at what point the computer determined your level of competency. Sometimes it will determine that in 75 questions, sometimes 265 questions, and AT ANY POINT in between. You already said you understand that.

Given that, why is 221 a "very odd number"? It's just that: a number of questions. Why would you have prefered to answer four more?!

Hopefully, you passed, and will go on to encourage others to disregard that blasted number their test stopped on ;)
