Hi everyone Im new here and I was wondering if anyone heard about people failing the NCLEX PN if the comp stops at 85? I took the NCLEX PN today and my heart is racing I keep thinking about the ones I got wrong because I came and looked them up. Please give me some feedback I don't find out till FRI and I started a new job I just hope I pass!!!!!
HeartJulz- I'm sorry you're so stressed about this! For sure the NCLEX and all that goes with it is stressful and frightening, but you're prepared for it. No matter how tempted you are, don't study any more tonight. You need to try to rest now. When you get to the testing site, take deep breaths and continue to do so when you're taking the test. If you feel panicky, close your eyes for a moment and breath. Take your time and read each question carefully, looking for the key word or words.
My oldest daughter talked to me at length about the value of taking deep slow breaths, and I took her advice. I don't know that I did so well on the test, but I was much calmer than I ever thought I would be, which means I was able to think more clearly.
That's the best advice I have to offer. Trust yourself, too. You passed the course of study and you know your stuff.
Best of luck to you!!
heartjulz..... i just wanted to say good luck to u!! let me know how it goes. hello everyone!! i a new to this forum & wanted to say congrats to all who have passed the nclex pn! and to the rest who have yet to take it i am right there w/you!! i'm planning on taking mine in april & just started reviewing. any input? i've been reading saunders & nclex pn made it easy. also doing practice q&a's. i'm thinking of getting kaplan cuz it seems alot of ppl have passed w/ that. ok everyone, have a good weekend!
Thank you to all for your words of encouragement!:heartbeat I went yesterday and the computer turned off @ 86. Im freakin out today but yesterday I was on cloud 9! I was sooo relieved to be done and I slept soooo good last night but get this, I woke up this morning and rememberd my last ques. on NCLEX???? WTH?!!! I have already found about 5+ I got wrong... Im really worried.. I applied to some jobs letting them know that Im done and just waiting licensure... one job called me back already and I would loveeeeee to have this job the hours are perfect! and pay not bad either... I have found nothing but let downs since being in healthcare and I have a super good heart.. so I dont knwo why people seem so evil! So I hope I get this job and pass boards... God knows how much I deserve this .. and I want a job where I can still spend time w my daughter who is already 15 this yr! Im praying!!! I wish all of you the best of success ... Kaplan is awesome... it helps you with how the ques. will be presented, but you also need to know all your matieral you learned in school to pass. also know that we are basic nurses, there will be some off the wall crap .. but for the most part it is how to keep the pt. alive and how will we react to those situations... I loved my NCLEX PN made incredibly easy.. it was one of the few books where I didnt have to flip back and forth for the answers and questions.. how annoying! also loved Hurst... also there is a mnemonics website that helps a lot... if anyone needs it I can look it up ..... good luck!!!!! Im rooting for all of you ...:heartbeat--Julz
Did any of you study with Kaplan JUST the Qbank? If so what were your % overall before you took NCLEX? Im only at 53% but just bought it on friday so in 2 days its at 53% as I am not used to those ques. I mostly studied lippin cotts and mosbys and did well w those up until Kaplan.. Im really confused..? One of my class mates just took his on Sat and said it was off the wall ques. and by the sounds of NCLEX seems more like Kaplan style... feedback??? And this is solely for LVN... thanx!
Ok, well I took the NCLEX PN yesterday, 3-31-08, and I feel like I completely failed! I got stopped at 85 and there were Q on there of things that I had never even heard of, like Mormon diets?? I had many drugs and select all that apply, I studied from the Saunders book (no help at all), I used the Que Exam Cram (pretty helpful), I used the Kaplan book (very helpful) I used the pneumonic notecards by Mosby I think...Just a few ideas...Good Luck!!!
Good luck to all who take it! I'm going to be taking it to re-up my license and I am scared! Why oh why didn't I just keep paying the stupid 100 bucks to renew? Although.. at the time I didn't have it and I guess I figured I wouldnt need the license again since I'd been doing office nursing... and it wasn't required for that job. The office I worked for closed (the doc opted to become a hospitalist so he didn't have to worry if the insurance companies were paying him!) So now I have the choice of either working as an MA or front office, or taking another job altogether... I dont think any of these options will pay me what I need to survive. I'd love to go back to Kaiser, my first job, but I need my license to do that! Ack!
