Took NCLEX-PN, feeling totally crushed

Published

I took the NCLEX-PN yesterday and left feeling defeated. I felt like I was guessing on most of the questions. The test shut off at 85 questions, which I've heard can be either very good or very bad. The majority of my questions seemed to be priority or patient teaching about meds. There were disorders on there I'd never heard of before. I can't believe this. I scored 1088 on the HESI and received the only A in my nursing class, but am convinced I failed this test.

If you did that well in school, I'm sure you probably did well on the NCLEX. When I took my NLEX-PN back in 2001 I almost had a mental breakdown when I got in the car. I just felt completely horrible. I had already prepared myself that I had failed the test and a few weeks later I got the letter saying I passed. I'm not a really really smart person either. I felt like I did alot of guessing on the test. I actually challenged the California LVN boards from my military training so I didn't go through a traditional program. I recently competed an LPN-RN course and just took the NCLEX-RN on Thursday. I have that same feeling of dread all over again. I just want to die. I'm sure you passed. Feeling horrible is a normal reaction. I've NEVER met anyone who felt totally confident coming out of the NCLEX. GOOD LUCK!

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

It sounds like you are actually a very good test taker. I'm betting you will be fine. Good luck to you.

If you got a few content question right and then just maintained a 50% you passed so don't stress. The national average is like 86% and you sound like you are well above average. SOOOO Congrats!!!:biggringi

The last 12 people that took the test that I know passed....they shut off at 85 questions. Good luck.
