hi out there i'm in desperate need of help. i took kaplan twice hoping against hope that i missed something, i ended up taking the nclex twice at 265 it's been 3 business days and i haven't heard anything, btw i'm in ca which doesn't participate in quick results. i was a good student in nursing school and i don't know why i keep making such stupid mistakes.
am i depending on kaplan too much?!
:bluecry1:This is for the RN nclex test. All my friends have seen their name on the brn website within 2 business days and this is why i am terrified. My teachers have told me if you hit 265 questions it is the last question that is the deciding one and i think i bombed it. This is happened to me once before i just don't know if i could go through this all again. I have heard that this was a myth but if so why would my teachers believe it as well.Btw my file is complete so there really shouldn't be a delay.
Thanks for listening everyone, any input?
Sorry, but your instructors are completely off base here and this is entirely not true. Number of questions as well as if the last one was correct or incorrect have no bearing on the results of the exam.
And shame on these instructors for even suggesting that. They are only perpetuating rumors, and nothing more than that.
As I have mentioned before, files are reviewed on an individual basis and by a human, you have no idea as to where your file is in the pile that is sitting on their desk.
How do you know that your file is actually complete? If you have not passed the exam up until now, then there was never a complete review done of it to begin with.
CQuestStill no word yet from boards =( I go through phases of when I get really anxious and just want to barf
to phases were a slightly calmer and just want to know either way and I am fine with whatever the results is to be. It's discouraging that people on here are finding their results before me and they took the test after me and they are also from CA. But I have to keep reminding myself that my case is different and we probably have different evaluators and different circumstances. So this is day 10 and still nothing, no mail and my name sure isn't listed on the BRN website yet. I hope you find your results and that you pass! I will keep everyone updated on my status....And I will keep praying for all of us
Average wait time is ten days and can be up to a month. There could have been issues with your fingerprints or anything else and that can hold up files.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that you can do but wait at this time.
/if you do not hear or see anything by two weeks, that is when you should contact them to make sure that everything is complete in your file.
As mentioned above, each and every file is reviewed by a human and it depends on how many files that they have on their desk. Getting results in two to three days is actually not the norm in CA.
And they are never going to have Quick Results available as long as they permit CA grads to test before they have even received their transcripts, just not going to happen.
I do know that CA varies between 3 days to 10 days, so hang in there. I know you hate to hear this, but I am sure you did fine. Taking Kaplan twice especially.Every post I see who have studied the Q bank, review and trainer from Kaplan have passed.
Good luck to you.
I am in Cali too. but I test next week. Can't wait to get it over with!
Average wait time is ten days and can go up to a month or so, and this is for the RN exam/licensure.
I really am happy that I found this website because I don't think that I could have taken this waiting without going crazy if it wasn't for this forum. At this point it feels good to know that there are people out there who are in similar situations, but the best part is to get feedback from everyone. I don't think anyone around me understands the stress, but I know that everyone on here does! Thanks for everyone's supportive words and kind advice. I will keep you guys updated once I get my results...lets all keep our fingers crossed and keep praying...best of luck to everyone and I hope no one will have to wait as long as I have so far
hello cquest and everyone!
I took the NCLEX this Monday July 7th. I consumed the whole 6 hours and ran out of time. The last question I saw was 255 and therefore the computer did not allow me to continue. I took the Kaplan course answered all 7 qtrainers and all qbanks, watched 75 percent of the videos, spend an average of 5-7 hours per day of studying. I would say that I have answered almost 3,000 questions and have been getting high 50s to mid 60 % on each set of question (most ppl think this is a reasonable score). I am almost certain that I failed the exam because 1. Time ran out 2. I got anxious and rattled as the numbers went up. I would say that from questions 220 up to 255 that I got hysterical and "just kept clicking" for the most part (I wouldn't say that I selected the best answer due to the fact that I was in a panic mode). I was unaware of the last 60 question rule so I was just hoping to reach # 265 and get it right.
Saw a lot of inspiring messages in this website about not losing hope. I am just worried into how should I prepare differently if I do fail. I prepared well as you can see. I incorporated discipline in my review, ran 3 miles everyday, never drank a single alcohol for the past 5 weeks and still there is a 99.9% chance that I failed.
I am just seeking help from you all what are your thoughts and advises if I do indeed fail the NCLEX after all that preparation?
Hi Cquest!
I just wanted to ask your opinion as to how are you doing things differently this time. It seems like Kaplan didn't work and I do agree that in some ways that they can give a student a false reassurance. Have you talked to others or have heard of some ideas that could help us in the future exam. I am thinking about the online preparatory course of NCSBN.
Up till this day I haven't got my results. And I am slowly realizing that as the day go by, my chances of passing are getting slimmer. That is why I reapplied to re-take the exam. I want to take action as early as now rather wait for 4 weeks and get something official in the mail. Let me know your thoughts? Thanks.
RJ2008,
What is the "last 60 question rule?"
For everyone, I took kaplan last year and very much agree it gives a false sense of security. Several people (good nursing students and now GREAT nurses!) who I took kaplan with failed NCLEX. I (luckily) passed the first time, but I COMPLETELY know what you all are feeling, I got about 220Qs and was sobbing when I left, I know what the poster who said "clicking just to click" meant! Good luck to you all! And keep us posted!!!

I know how you feel as far as Ca. not having results quicker. Some states are faster than others.
But at this point, just wait, and you will find your name on there.
Waiting like this is so frustrating. Stay positive. It will come....
