ICD 10 (current version of International Classification of Diseases, from which one of the listed codes is needed to code a diagnosis) has plenty of codes that use the term "abuse" with regard to substances.

I meant abuse in relation to substances so for my self I would now be classified as having a substance use disorder, unspecified in remission.
I was also speaking about the DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th Edition) which is the gold standard for psychiatric diagnosis. ICD 10 is a different coding system.

I understand that. I'm just making a notation that other portions of the system we all work in do use that language.
FWIW I do think it would've been better to use the word "use" on the OP chart, and there is a code that would've covered that, as mentioned above.

What would the ED report, exactly? They didn't test for psychoactive substances.

Yeah, they aren't reporting anything. This is probably one of who knows how many similar cases that day; the only relevant thing is how the patient is getting dispo'd and this sounds easy enough.

You are not going to get reported. No one cares besides you that you ate a gummy. It’s really not a big deal and no one should find out. They can’t disclose that to anyone.

I drove 67 in a 65 zone by accident. Should I have the executioner put me to death with the guillotine? ??

This violation is a flogging by the BON with thorned whips for the first time, THEN execution for the second offense. Floggings are scheduled monthly along with board meetings. Bring your own bandages. Tight budgets and all.

You were not on the job when you went to the ER I don't know that I would've gone to the hospital where you work knowing that you took something like that it depends on the laws in your state in Florida we have to self report and I think that's pretty much Nationwide I don't think you did anything wrong I don't think you need to make a big deal out of it I seriously doubt that the ER doctors gonna report you to the board of nursing in your state because of confidentiality because if he did that and he's kind of crossing a line between caregiver provider where HIPAA is a thing because you didn't sign a release and you're not employed by the ER so that's my take
