Too expensive for CNA class?

Thats insane. My entire two year degree including a high estimate for books is going to be 6500. And thats 6 semesters of college! Shop around asap.

I'm paying $515 for mine at the local tech college. That includes materials, and then I believe it's an additional $135 or so for the cert. testing.

If you have any large nursing homes in your area, check with them too. There is one here that does their own class, you don't have to be hired by them or work for them afterwards. It was only a bit more than what the tech charges.

I didn't pay anything for mine. Around here alot of nursing homes give them for free so you will work for them.

My lord.... that is way too expensive! Double that and you got yourself an associate degree in nursing. I am paying 600 for my cna class and 200 hundred in materials. You should definitly look into a community college in your area.

Yeah, I think that is crazy expensive...I paid around $600 for both the class and books....

wow!! I am starting my class in Aug. and the cost is 110.00 for the class and about 50.00 for the books. I have to buy my shoes, scrubs etc, but for the program itself cost around 160.00 with class and book. I go to the local community college though. It takes a little longer (about 3 months) but at least it dosen't cost a small fortune.

Hi everyone. Alice here. So I found a pretty decent CNA program, but the price is $3,500. Is that too much? It's terribly difficult to find a CNA training program in Orange County, CA for some reason. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough... ?

Yes, even in California - where most people expect prices to be higher - $3,500 seems a stretch for CNA certification. Your earning potential does not match up with that. Are you sure there are no other programs in your area? Perhaps you can google CNA programs in your area. As I said, that amount seems a bit excessive.

Here in NW Arkansas, I got enrolled in the CNA course as well as the PCT course, both for summer, both for $700. Books were about $225. Book bag, notebooks, pens... another $50. All told, I spent about $1000, which I think was reasonable.

However, I noticed that one of the technical institutes has a higher tuition for their CNA class. I don't remember now what it was, I just remember that it was a lot higher than the community college.

I don't know what the cost of living is like in Orange Co., CA but even if it was on par with San Francisco, $3500 is still nuts. Check the prices at different places, like community colleges vs. technical schools vs. technical institutes and I bet you'll find that community colleges end up offering the best price.

Golden Living Centers have free CNA classes. They are all over the US and have emails the to instructors in your area on their website.

Check that out 1st!
