  1. LOL Thanks! Buckeye Hills Career Center in Southwest Ohio. It is a very hard program. We lost about 15 in all throughout the year. Most of which the first quarter. They have like a 99% passing rate on boards though, so I'm content with that!
  2. Woohoo! I graduted last night!! I'm free at last! Well until I start LPN to RN bridge next summer! Now I can get a job and not be poor anymore! Goodbye Dollar General - Hello Walmart!! haha:yeah:
  3. Basically just prepare for life outside of school to be over. You spouse will feel left, kids will feel abandoned, and your dog will probably starve. It's worth it though! In the long run your doing something for them that will help. Stay strong and be brave! Don't stand in the backgroud. Be a go-getter but not a kiss ass.
  4. Mine isn't scheduled yet. I don't graduate for another 10 days. WV requires our transcripts along with our board application, so I have to wait to send it out. As for which NCLEX book I have, it is Saunders Comprehensive Review. Its the newest edition. It helps alot.
  5. hehe. i just wanted to say i have the whole little countdown clock on myspace. i started it the first day of class and now it is down to 12!! lol
  6. Yeah. One day at a time is the best way to do it. We lost 16 out of our original 49 so far. I graduate in 12 days. It has been a rough ride. You basically say BYE to everyone and everything you love and just focus on nursing. Keep your up and focus on your goal. A big problem I seen in our class was the girl would get to emotional over there boyfriends, husbands, and so on complaining about not getting enough time with them. When they would give in their grades would suffer, so tell your significant others to prepare to have a year where they barely see you cause better safe than sorry.
  7. I just have been doing mini quizzes of about 10 everyday with the disk that came with my NCLEX book. I think it helps alot!
  8. I remember things by creating acronyms. For example. MCCCFlerg. MCCCflerg is the man that makes up a cell. Mitochondria...Cytoplasm..Centriolles...Cillia..... Flagella..Lysosomes..Endoplasmic...Ribosomes..Golgi Apperatus That method works for me. Also, the more shocking or gross you can make a rhyme up to remember things the easier it is to remember. That was one of my jobs with my group of buddies at school. Creating disgusting, perverse, racist, you name it. We did everythiong because we knew the more wrong it was..the more we would remember.
  9. Basically what our instructors have taught us is, more then likely all of the dosage calc for IV's and what not will already be set up or done by the machine. They just teach us incase something happens to where we have to figure it out. We were allowed to use calculators. I don't see why you couldn't use one on the job. If I was a charge nurse I would rather the nurses under me use a calculator and be right then give something wrong to a patient.
  10. We have an IV Therapy course integrated into our curriculum. According to the board we are only required to get one successful stick in order to pass. We usually are able to get more then that. I actually just put one in on the floor yesterday. We also have days during clinicals where we go to Same Day Surgery and just put in IV's all day. I haven't even been to that yet and have already put in two.
  11. I'm currently one. I have 67 days until graduation. I CAN'T WAIT. I am so sick of being poor! lol. I'll start my LPN to RN bridge next summer and it will take me 3 quarters.
  12. The way I remembered was making up little songs and sayings. The sad part is, the cruder, shocking, and most perverted thing I could come up with stuck the best. Everyday I would get to class and everyone would ask me how to remember.
  13. I really like the show Nurse Jackie. I think it's funny. The fact that both male nurses that have had screen are both, is a little stereotypical, but it is only 3 episdoes in now. They may have some more that haven't showed up yet. I know that doesn't really go with your post, but I like the show. lol
  14. I agree with nightwolf. It's not really all that hard it just requires you to pay alot of attention. Your life outside of school is basically over for that 12months, or however long your program is. In the end, it is worth it, but it sucks in the meantime. The first quarter for us was the worst. Once we were past that they slacked off a little, not much though.
  15. I just wanted to add my .02 . In regards to the dentist who molest, alot of times they do the same thing to male patients too. It is not about the sex of the patient, it is about the control.
