  1. Hi, I am a recent graduate of ECPI's LPN program in Greenville, SC. First, let me say this program is no joke!! It is for very serious, committed students. I have friends that have graduated from RN progams and I know as much if not more than they do, in some cases we acutually had the same text books. This progam takes dedication and tons of committment, I would highly suggest you not work a job during this program. So far of the 19 students that graduated with me, all that have taken the NCLEX have passed on the first try. There is no room to fail a class a retake it, once you fail you are out, you can appeal to get back in but there is no guarantee that you will be re-admitted. All of the instructors are absouletly BRILLIANT! Amazing nursing knowledge in that building, they go out of their way to help every student. If you get in be prepared to study at least 4 hours every evening, its tough, but worth it. I am currently in a RN progam and I feel like I am doing a review, ECPI really prepared me, and I am glad that I went there for my education.
  2. Hi will be starting school (an accelerated LPN program.) I am 46. I plan to continue and get my RN after I graduate in Dec 2010. A negative person said to me "wow you will be 47 when you get your LPN, that's kinda old!" Can you believe that?? I said " well if I'm still alive I will be 47 anyway...so I might as well be 47 and a nurse". This will be my 3rd career and I can't wait. You're never too old to improve your life. I say you go for it!
  3. I would not exactly call them "issues" pretty much the same things as most other schools. It is very competetive. 1st you take the compass test to see if you are smart enough to be in college. If you are in Greenville Tech now you will have no problems with this. Then you will be required to take a nursing school entrance exam, if you do not do well on this you will have to wait 1 year to retest. Once you have passed the tests then you will have to speak with the finacial aid office if you plan to use aid for payment. Next you will have to submit 3 letters of reference, then you will need pass the background check. Next is an essay that you will have to write and submit answering various questions given to you by the school. Then you will have a panel interview with the Director of Nursing and Dean of the school. After all that is done they will contact you about a week later to let you know if you're in or not. I think they only accept only 20 students per term, but not sure about the exact number.
  4. I will be starting the LPN program at ECPI in 2 weeks. I will let you know how it goes, I can say this...there were a lot of hoops to jump to get accepted. I am excited though.
  5. Congratulations!!! I'm so jealous. I start my program in 2 weeks. I can't wait until I can post that I graduated. I wish you well in your job search and happy shopping at WalMart. LOL
  6. Evaluate YOUR passions, YOUR goals and stay away from negative people. Don't listen to anyone that comes at you with a negative comment. None of us knows what the future holds for any profession. I say look inside yourself and decide what your passion is...if its with nursing...go for it. If its not move on. But which ever you do, do it because its what YOU want not because someone tells you to change your major. After all its your life. Good luck in all your endeavors!!
  7. thanks! thee good news is I'm divorced and have no man in my life right now. My kids are 19 and 17. So obviously I'm probably going to be the oldest student in class. (46) and that I think is part of my anxiety...wondering if this old brain can do this. I really appreciate the advice. Thank you.
  8. the syllabus is soooo long! what kinds of information did it consist of? I have been in college before (not nursing however) and I have never seen a syllabus more than 10 pages. just curious what in the world did it have in it?
  9. Hi everybody,I will begin an accelerated LPN program in 2 weeks. I am scared to death! I have been having horrible nightmares about school and feeling so anxious. I read posts on this site daily and get more fearful. If anyone can who has already begun school give me a single piece of advice of what I should do first, second, third to get through this without having a nervous breakdown? I appreciate any and all responses! Thanks everybody.
