Take a deep breath, go over the steps in your head, visualize yourself as a competent, experienced nurse giving a routine injection, that worked for me. Ignore the instructor talk to the patient dummy, just like it was a real patient.
YOU CAN DO THIS
GOOD LUCK LET US KNOW HOW IT WENT:heartbeat

Talk your way through it, explaining everything you're doing. Be confident and just do the business you're there to do. If it's timed don't worry about it, the time is plenty and shouldn't be a concern.

How was your experience with injections? The more you do injections you do
the easier it gets!
Well we're doing them in class on our instructor today, so we shall see how it goes. I get nervous because I dont want to hurt anyone, like when we were doing glucose readings on each other, I messed up on my partner, lucky for me she doesnt mind them, phew!!!

Give it like you like to GET it....quick.
Don't forget to Z-track when appropriate.

Totally normal to be nervous...I'm in my 2nd semester and I have yet to give a shot to a patient. I never got to last semester, but some did. I would imagine after the first time, you won't be as nervous! Good luck!

Wait, you instructor is going to get stuck 80 times by 40 nursing students doing it for the first time? THAT is what I call dedication! :uhoh21:
UPDATE: Well I did it. I gave a IM shot at the gluteus medius and a subq shot in the llq. I made her bleed after the IM shot, but I did it pretty good, and I wasn't too nervous, thank GOD!!! Thanx for the support!
