Today I took the cna written and skills test

The written was somewhat easy but it had some tricky questions. Some of them seemed like there could be more then one answer to them. And ummm lets just say I did good on all 4 skills except for bed making. My butt bumped into the table and touched the clean linen. They had thier bed sheets labled but I went to grab a top sheet. Well it turns out it was a fitted sheet, the examiner said to just keep going. Someone put the fitted sheet in the wrong place. On top of all that, I ran out of time. Then she said to just finsh the last skill. Can they fail you for running out of time? It doesnt say in my handbbok. I did peek at her notes when she sat down her pad. I just glanced and she gave me all A's on the handwashing. It's really not that bad I was a nervous wreck for nothing. If she fails me I will just take it again. No biggie. Aint no point getting all worked up and upset. I just thought I would share my experience.

Yes they can fail you for running out of time. It sounds like you had a kind boards rep. Some of them can be picky

Someone put a fitted sheet in the top sheet section. That sucks. I'm not sure about the time limit issue, I wasn't given a time limit at my exam, but I hope everything works out for the best. Good attitude! If you fail, you'll have more time to practice and pass the next time.

Yeah, she was very kind! But just because she was kind I don't expect her to not fail me. I did things wrong on the last skill and she knows. Thanks to all who posted.

update: HEY EVERYONE I PASSED BOTH THE WRITTEN AND SKILLS TEST:yeah:I'm so excited! YAY!

Congrats!!! I have mine on Saturday the 19th.....they have failed people for forgetting to put lotion on feet or wiping their hands after the assisting to feed...even tho the hands were clean and had not touched the food....that makes me soooooo nervous!!!!

Congrats I took my test 6/2 you get like 35 minutes I had a really nice examiner. The three skills I had was emptying a urinary drainage bag, perneil care and ROM left upper extremity. I agree that is really messed up that someone had the supplies in the wrong place.

Thanks! You know what helped me? I just talked myself through it and said everything out loud! The examiner liked that. In our state if you believe you did a step wrong then say so and they will let you do it over. Once I was finished she asked if there was anything I wanted to change. My skills were: Handwashing, vitals, applying ted hose, occupied bed, and mouth care. Good luck to you too!:)

Yeah, that really had me worried about the supplies being in the wrong place. I knew immediately to say something to her right away!! I still thought she was going to count it against me though. Thanks for your reply.:)

I retake mine on June 25 @ 5pm in Westland, mi at four chaplins nursing home. Im not nervous really because i have been going up to the school to practice and i know what i did wrong
