  1. @ serina sorry that i misspelled your name i uploaded the information here the list of banks that the program sugguested and other info about the lpn program FUNDING Options.doc LPN_Course_of_Study.pdf Textbook_Price_List.pdf BACKGROUND CHECK Instructions.doc
  2. Your right michworks ran out of money. The casemgr that I spoke with said they ran out in April and that i should have applied in no later than march. he also told me that they don't know when they would have funds so just get registered. When it becomes available then i can go to school. So I kind put lpn school for the back burner for now. My benefits are gone and the employment extensions aren't here yet. so i cant just go to school without a job. The contact from Oakland university lpn @ the st. john riverview campus said that once you apply and are accepted that you can apply for loans with the Oakland university credit union. She also emailed me a listing of banks have loans you can apply for to help pay for school.
  3. the oakland university lpn program doesn't accept financial aid only michworks and loans like salle mae and others. The michworks process is you attend an orientation for no worker left behind program. you qualify if you are unemployed, laid off or make under 40,000 per year and then you turn in paper work after you attend ortandtion

  8. no the job coordinator just gives you job listings. i retake my state 6/25/10. Other than that the teachers are very good and helpful
  9. I retake mine on June 25 @ 5pm in Westland, mi at four chaplins nursing home. Im not nervous really because i have been going up to the school to practice and i know what i did wrong
  10. they have night classes that are from 6-10pm two days a wk. day classes are Mon- Fri 9am-4pm
  11. I went to Aress academy in southfield the program is accelerated but you learned CNA is 4wks ekg and pheblotmy is 3 wks also
  12. it states on oakland university website that have to have CNA training but the certification is preferred but not required. Michworks funding is accepted but it dont cover the complete cost of training
  13. I completed Aress Academy for CNA/PCT. My experience was okay. I just wanted to know how others felt how there experience was . To me the teacher had favorites but I didn't care I completed the course in March 2010. I have to retake my State exam failed a skill but passed the others that I had. I can say the Teacher assistant is extremely helpful but besides that the office staff is unorganized and are not professional. My experience was good the teacher assistant was very helpful and there were times that I had to say after to get my check offs done and I pass them. I am very confident that I will pass I have been going up to the school to practice my skills and I retake the exam 6/25/10 @ 5pm. The school basicly advice you to go to Four Chaplin's Nursing home in Westland to take you state test and they are right I had a classmate that went there and he passed the state exam. By the the way the other down side is that there really isn't any job placement the placement coordinator just gives you a job listing and thats it. Does anyone know of any nursing homes that will hire you while are not certified and waiting to become licensed
  14. Im thinking of enrolling in the lpn program through Oakland University and I wanted to know if there is anyone who is in the program, how is the the program and do you think that its a good school. Its a lot cheaper than the others that I looked at and its held at a local location Detroit St. John Riverview Hospital and its three days a week
  15. I heard of it through the website michworks gives you to look for schools which is http://www.mycareereducation.org and it didn't give much information either I so I called up to nexcare and also looked at there website. Which didn't help either. I wouldn't trust an unaccredited school either. Oakland university has a lpn program at St. John Riverview Hospital in Detroit. They are currently accepting apps for Jan. 2011 class and the deadline is 9/1/10. Oakland website is Home - Oakland University The program cost is $14,000 + books and supplies (an additional $1290).
