To those who recently passed the NCLEX... Question here! :)

Published

Hello guys!

I'm just wondering what review books/online questions did you used to review for the nclex...what would you highly suggest? I'm a new graduate and I really want to take the NCLEX as soon as possible, while everything is still "fresh" in my mind. My instructor has been gearing us towards nclex by giving us questions on our quizzes just like the nclex, so hopefully that will eventually help. I have the ATIs from my school and Saunders, but I feel its not enough.

Thank you and congrats to those who recently graduated and/or passed the NCLEX! :yeah:

Kaplan helped me pass. I had failed twice before this time and it was July 2005 when I took my last NCLEX. I took Kaplan and it helped me get passed this son of a gun.

NURSELil-Lea, I also used Suzanne's Plan.. I passed NCLEX-RN with just 75 items.. I will never forget that moment..Suzanne's Plan is the best.:D

There was alot of people that got to complete suzanne's plan but I was the unfortunate one. But I was able to PM her and she spoke with me on it. Yep, to those who got to go all the way though Suzanne's Plan were able to pass the test. People started abusing her plan and all she was trying to do is help us pass the test using her plan. I think people were exchanging information that you could not get until you finished the 1st steps of her plan and than able to PM her for the rest of the steps. It was a Great Plan!!

I did the Hurst Review online..it was around 300 dollars but well worth it. I also used the book by La Charity i forget the name right now but it was a prioritization book. I felt these 2 helped immensely

The book is called Prioritization, Delegation Assignment, Practice Exercises for Medical-Surgical Nursing, by Linda A. LaCharity, Candice K. Kumagai and Barbara Bartz. ISBN-13 978-0-323-04407-3 or ISBN 0-323-04407-7. There is 2 ISBN numbers on this book. This is a great book, it is easy to read and follow, it helped me!!

Good Luck :nuke:

I used the Kaplan Q & A online with the Qbanks, Saunders, Lippincott, and Med's Pub. The Med's Pub content review book helped me alot more than the Kaplan's review book. The Med's Pub questions were really hard and I've seen some similarities with the NCLEX questions. Hope it helps!. Good luck!

Saunders because a clinical instructor and Suzanne both recommended it. I passed on first try with about 120 questions.

I recommend Saunders, Kaplan and doing some content review. Btw, Kaplan is way harder than the NCLEX...If youre scoring above 60%, then youre good to go. The nclex is not hard at all...Just go in there with confidence and a good attitude. One more thing that helped was having faith in yourself and trusting God. If you honestly chose nursing for the right reasons and are truly there to make a difference in peoples lives, then you'll do good. Do about 150-200 questions a day and make sure to read the rationales behind it. Make sure to have covered at least 3000 questions. I wish everyone who is taking the test all the best of luck! Best wishes :nurse:

I used Princeton Review mainly. I had another book but didn't like it as much, I think it was a Mosby-Elsevier study guide or something like that. I LOVED the PR book. I have used them for years (for AP classes in highschool and such) and they are very easy to understand and the CD included was awesome. It had about 6 or 7 160 question NCLEX style tests to take and that was the best review I had.

Any resource will be helpful if it is used consistently with hard effort.
