I know what you feel my fellow nurses while waiting for retrogression to be lifted up. Like you guys I also waited for more than 2 years. I just arrived w/ my family here in USA last January after working in Dubai for 10 yrs, and England 4 yrs. It's crazy to think but I still want to work and apply in Aussie after a year though I got my SS, greencard and still building up credit history. Each country has their own advantages & disadvantages. It is all up to you guys and nobody has to blame each person's decisions. Better to try than to listen from other's advices till you become satisfied & settled. For us, when we were singles, we preferred to work in Dubai or USA, now that we got kids, we prefer to live in UK, CAN or Aussie for our better healthcare benefits & off days/holidays. In USA, the more you work the more you earn especially for the singles, but it's hard to do OT if you have conflicting times with your hubbys or kids. You will also get 2 weeks off per year and the rest unpaid, not bad though but we still think of better ideas. Im a Filipino citizen and almost half of my life was spent outside my beloved country, I even don't bother of becoming US,CAN,AUS,UK citizen as long as me & my family are happy and contented. If God allows, we think of coming back when become old in our own native land.

I guess you're right! If you want a nice, slow-phased life, go elsewhere, not in the US or atleast choose a state in the US with that kind of life-style.

Been to Australia as well, I really would love to live in Melbourne. But since I got all my papers filed for the US already, I feel it is already late to do that. But still, I am thinking twice and thrice...and so on...

hello arys1075,

i am a US citizen for about a year now and im a nursing student here in houston....but i have plans of moving to australia in 4 or 5 years. i have a family and i sure would love to live in australia mainly because of the reason that you stated.

goodluck to you and your family

Considering that I havent taken the NCLEX exam yet, do I have very little chance of getting to the US in the next 2 years?
