our unit has been having a lot of problems lately with our lipids reading occlusion. :uhoh21: we still filter our lipids, but i am curious as to how many other units still do?
I confidently agreed above that we don't filter our lipids...and then, last night, as I was priming my lipid tubing...there, before my very eyes, was a tiny 10 micron filter on the lipid tubing we use.
Our tubing doesn't have a filter either...it is the same tubing we use on the alaris, but no filter attached. Although, ours come up in syringes/bags, so they may filter then downstairs.

The NICU I worked in didn't filter lipids. I now work PICU and we "Y" our lipids in above the filter. Keep in mind, kids that get TPN and Lipids at home get the TPN and Lipids mixed in the same bag often times.

We had that issue in the past so for the past few years we haven't been filtering lipids.
