hehe... i don't know...
when i enrolled in nursing, the worlwide demand wasn't that full-blown (and publicized) yet, so you can rule out just going with the flow, or doing it for the money. i mean, i knew it paid, but as far as i knew back then, so did every other job.
i did know that the philippines was importing nurses since way back, so that could have influenced me. i've always wanted to try other countries. also, i was pretty idealistic. it was like viewing a future job through rose-colored glasses..
what i also didn't know then is that nursing here and now would be like this....
so right now i am one confused nurse.

i didn't want to at the beginning. some of my cousins were either nurses or doctors. i hated needles and blood, and i didn't care until we migrated here in the u.s. and then realized how hard it it is not to have a degree, so got no choice, but to go back to school, tried nursing, and guess what? it's the smartest decision i ever made !!

when i took up nursing (1994) it wasn't as indemand as it was now so i have to scratch off working in the US or any other country. i know that nurses are not being payed much, so money is not the reason. hmmm... well, i guess it's the only profession that i know i'll be able to excel.

eversince, i wanted to be a nurse coz my mom is a nurse...i grew up in a hospital environment where i used to play in my mom's hospital playground coz the space is so wide that with some of my playmates run around the plaza....it's a private hospital in a private place...i used to go there almost everyday...and i told myself i wanna be like my mom but things changed when i graduated high school that my significant others wanted me to be a doctor coz a nurse is a "professional maid" as they always said, but deep inside me all i wanted to be is to be a nurse....so when i graduated from my biology course...i decided not to pursue medicine coz i know i couldn't find happiness in being a doctor...it's more of a calling...not because of the increase surge of nurses in US but it's one of the advantages.... ....but still i look forward to working abroad coz being a nurse in the Phils. made one hard to raise a family...just my personal opinion...God bless to all nurses...

I chose Nursing by chance and choice, chance because the school iwent intoduring my Nursing days, is near to my place of work( second courser), by chance, because I am thinking of the future of My family, its the fastest passport going abroad............for now, Know regrets, I feel I have become a better Dentist because of Nursing, And I now learned and appreciate the work of my mom and sister who happened to be dedicated Nurses, I salute all nurses all over the world. A very noble profession.

i'm a second courser in nursing and i don't want to be a hypocrite if my only reason is just to help the sick people. let's face the reality, why are so many professionals who are already established in their professions like doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants/bankers (many of them are my classmates) still want to pursue nursing and start again from scratch? of course they want to seek greener pasture for their family to have a brighter future. but i do hope we second coursers will eventually put nursing into our hearts not just merely for its monitary rewards.

i'm a frustrated doctor... i really want to be a doctor. i was so mad then when i didn't realize that dream just because we don't have enough money to put me through med school... my friends told me i should still pursue another career in healthcare if, truly, helping people is my goal in life. it just so happens nursing was getting popular then. and now i'm a nurse, still in line with my goal in life, and i'm happy to be one! but who knows, maybe God would still want me to be a doctor... :)
