To Filipino Nurses in NEW ZEALAND? Have questions please..

Good day!

I am considering trying my luck as a nurse in New Zealand.

Can anyone here help me and tell me what to expect in the 2-3months competency assessment? Is it really like attending formal school where you have lectures, exams, reports? Anyone ever failed that??

How long does it take to get a working visa after registering with NCNZ, provided of course one passed the assessment? How long does it take to get permanent residency?

How do I find a good consulting agency that can help me with the processing? Or dont I need one anymore?

I also would appreciate it if Filipino Nurses can share their experiences in NZ. Was the transition hard? How do you like the weather?

Any practical tips about starting my application to work as a nurse there besides looking at the NCNZ website?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hellooooooooooo! Sorry late reply for all the questions as I had my long holiday! Well, they said it's pretty alright in EIT Hawkes Bay. If you will have your practical training in Hawkes Bay DHB, avoid A&E. No explanation to be given as no naming and shaming here. Just don't go there.

Cheers!:typing

Hello! Just finished reading everything in this thread...wow this is long... I'm from Iloilo and I'd also like to work in NZ... Recently an Agency came here to offer us "Immigration consultancy" with fee of estimated P400,000 (P60,000 of which is their placement fee)... After reading this thread I've become confident to do the process on my own.. Here are some things about me:

-I'm still waiting for my NCLEX eligibilty (from vermont). It takes so long... It has been 8months.. and I got tired...

-I'm planning to take my Ielts this October or December...

I have some questions:

-Is it true that I don't need to go to Malacanang to authenticate my documents?

-Can I go to the local DFA (here in Iloilo) instead of Manila?

-Do I need to get my documents authenticated in the NZ embassy?

I'm sorry of the many questions... I'm trying to avoid going to Manila to lessen my expenses... I hope you can enlghten me.. thanks....

hi g3stalt!

-Is it true that I don't need to go to Malacanang to authenticate my documents?

*yes, you don't need to authenticate your documents to malacanang, authentication of documents should be in DFA-Manila and NZ Embassy

-Can I go to the local DFA (here in Iloilo) instead of Manila?

*no, DFA Manila is the one authenticates the documents

-Do I need to get my documents authenticated in the NZ embassy?

*yes, documents should be authenticated by NZ embassy.

maybe you can ask friends or relatives living in manila to help you on this :D and also please check for updated authentication fees at DFA & NZ Embassy. goodluck :)

Thanks for the reply... here are some more questions:

  1. In the Application Form, there's a Statutory Declaration, do I have to sign that document in front of a notary public/attorney?
  2. I haven't taken my IELTS yet, but I plan to take it this October, can I include the NCNZ in the list (in the IELTS application form) where the IDP can send the results directly to NCNZ, after I take the IELTS?
    • It was stated in the NZ guide that "An original of the test results must be included with the application"

[*]I'm single and have not have any change of name or civil status, do I still need to send my birth certificate? I didn't see anything in the NZ guide that says that birth certificate is needed..

THanks in advance for the reply!

Whatever is asked for you to send, send. If it's not asked to be sent or included in the application, then you don't have to send. Regarding the IELTS for, just go to a notary public. They will just stamp it with their number and signature. Go to amn authentic notary public and not just in "gilid-gilid." About sending the original result straight away to NZ (regardless if you pass or not) - ASK IDP if they will still give you another copy of your own when they send it to NZ. In my time, they gave me my IELTS result and I asked them to send a copy to NZ which I had paid (hundreds, can't remember the exact amount) certain amount. That is the USUAL procedure. The problem with sending the result straight away is that you don't know the result yet whether you pass (straight 7 across the board) or you fail. I mean, at least if you know the result, you know your second move. And it's not good to send a failed IELTS result. They might remember you as we don't know if they keep the file. Better receive the result first, if it's 7 or more then, have IDP send a copy to NZ. At the same time, all your signed papers, application form, etc are already set for courier.

I have to remind all of you that it's difficult now to be accepted in the application if your nursing degree is a second degree.

:typing Life has to go on.

hello... i'm new here... i'm glad i've found this site and thread...

i'm currently working on my requirements for my application as a nurse in new zealand... i kinda confused on what specific documents i need to have authenticated at the DFA and NZ embassy... anybody please who can help me with this... thanks;)

hello all, RN here from baguio city. i applied for NCNZ last year actually, around october, the same time when there were a LOT of policy changes regarding nursing application. until now i haven't received my acceptance letter yet from the council, however throughout all this time i have been in contact with the council. they informed me of the modifications of the application process and told me to send extra documents. FINALLY, last week, ALL the documents needed by the council have been sent and right now they emailed me that my documents are being assessed. hopefully in 1 or 2 weeks time i'll get that coveted acceptance letter.

therein lies my dilemma hehe, does anyone know any hospital or health care facility that can SPONSOR the CAP? if it is at all possible, they will also shoulder the accomodations as well as the airfare. (i wanna try outside of auckland, DUNEDIN perhaps, south island, wanna try OTAGO POLYTECHNIC)please give info on possible sponsorships!! thank you so much to whoever will reply to my queries!

I thought you are under IMEETS agency? How come you dont have your acceptance letter yet since you said the owner Ms. carlos has contact with the NZ embassy and NCNZ? Arent they helping you look for a sponsor for CAp?:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

HI retsimnaeb! have we met before?

anyway, yes, i am under that. i was trying to avoid mentioning their company name as not to be accused as an agency promoter. AGAIN, i am not here to promote that agency. she has contacts yes but of course they are by the book at NCNZ. as i mentioned in my previous post, i applied during the time when the council made a lot of changes with the policy. the council and i were confused on what documents i would need to pass coz i was like in the transition phase for the new policies. the council and i were touch and go for a few months and FINALLY they got ALL the documents needed (in the end, i had to follow the new policies as well)

as soon as i get the acceptance letter, they (agency) will help me get a CAP sponsorship BUT, that entails more payment on my behalf. the people on this thread who are saying not to take advantage of an agency are correct. upon further research in my part and numerous memberships to various NZ filipino groups i was able to get info on how to apply to NCNZ on my own. now, i already paid the agency for my NCNZ application. i have to pay them again for CAP and everything. i want to avoid paying hence in am asking if anyone out there has more info about CAP sponsorhsips.

I guess you are not a happy customer , all along I thought with the supposed "contacts" of your agency it will expidite the whole process, but hey they were not able to do anything(as you said) -- its probably more of a gimik to entice more customers to use their services . Too bad.. Anyway goodluck with your search for a CAP sponsor.

over all, i am ok with the agency, but with info i gathered online and from what people are telling me, i can avoid paying them more money if i'll do some of the leg work myself hehe. perhaps nga its a gimik or something, but still, i think they helped me though just a little hehe.

thanks for the concern retsimnaeb, hope to see u there soon! and good luck to you too!
