TO ALL RNs WHO'VE TAKEN NCLEX MORE THAN ONCE

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I failed the Nclex in July, I will be giving it again in october for 2nd time.

So, my question to those RNs, RNs to be who have taken the test more than once........How different was the NCLEX-RN test from the first time you gave it compared to 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc........times.

Please, kindly shed some light???

Thank you.

Im telling others Suzanne plan works only use what she says I passed on 3rd attempt using that only. At first I was skeptible. When I went in and took that test it on most of questions I knew what they were looking for. Remember read and focus and understand rationales whether its right or wrong dont worry about % that is what Suzanne told me when I was in denial about her plan. Good luck to others. Remember GOD knows whats he wants for our future and maybe at times is not our times but trust in him and stay determined he will follow through. Matilda50 RN

Matilda50,

Did you used only suzannes plan strictly......no other books/references/prep materials.

If you only used her plan, did you modify it a little bit like doing less or more questions/day than the plan says.

Did you completely finished her plan??

Thanks in advance.

I am sorry to hear that you didn't pass. My suggestion to you is take a break, it will allow your frustration and anxiety to subside. Take 1-2 weeks break or even longer if you need. Once, you are ready it will allow you to concentrate and focus on your studies.

My suggestion is use Saunders Comprehensive (will give you nice content review) + Priority/Delegation/Assignment book from mosbys (will prepare you to answer priority questions on test) . Read all the rationales when you practice the questions even if you get it right.....understand why you got right or wrong. Take your time, dont panic and study smarter not harder ......In the end, you will succeed.

Best of LucK!!

new revised first tip of suzanne's plan

this is my second time. i just started using her plan, i was skeptical but so many validations from other nursing students, i believe the plan works. her plan keeps you in track and i will give my test in december and will definitely let you know if her plan worked or not.

i grad in may 07. took nclex in july and failed in 75 q's. i was soo anxious. when i left the test center, i felt confident in my answers til i got home and saw where i messed up. i was miserable!!! as a single mom of 2 kids with bills, this was complete turmoil for me. i realized during my test that i was so hyped up til i was actually formulating my own answers to the questions and making wrong answers correct. i was in such a depression state afterwards to see i failed.

until i buckled down....

i used suzanne's plan, and nothing else. when i was tired, i could not get to 100 q's but i managed to do

50-100 on those days. either way it went, i did all the questions on the cd and in the book. i did not read every chapter just the ones i did 75% and less.

took nclex nov 6, i prayed and sat down and made up in my mind that i was not about to give another penny to boards. i took my precious time. i broke each answer down by process of elimination. i knew i was passing because every other ? was a priority or id get them back to back. that let me know that i was answering correctly. i would thank god very time i got one that used the words most, best, priority, essential, immediate, etc. i was sooo confident and relaxed. i took at least 2-3 min on each ques. my test shut off in 78 questions...2 days later... im a rn. without suzannes plan and god i would not have passed.

good luck to all re-takers... i was one too.

Wow, suzannes plan really works huh!!!!!

I have heard really good things about Saunders. My nursing school strongly recommends priority/delegation/assignment book for all graduating students.

First time I took my exam was in August. I used only Kaplan review....did not pass. The second time I used Suzanne's plan in combination with NCSBN. I found out yesterday that I passed. I had 75 questions this time compared to 265 questions the first time. The questions were harder with 75 questions, but I was able to tackle them because I had more content knowledge than when I did Kaplan.

NCSBN online questions are exactly the same way NCLEX is written. As you know NCLEX was written by NCSBN, so there is no other place to go but with the source, right? Saunders is very helpful also because it covers everything you need to know about basic nursing. If you are weak in one area, Saunders is the book to use for reference.

Kaplan's questions are way harder and confusing (however, I give them credit for their rationales though).

I studied 2.5 months covering both Saunders and NCSBN. I did 100 questions a day. I followed Suzanne's first part of her study plan. I did the Saunders CD but not in its entirety.

Good luck to those who are testing for their second, third, and so on. You can do it.

I used her plan only nothing else. Yes some days I did 50 and mostly did 100 ques a day all in study mode content section so you get all ques from all angles. I did all ques except 200 of them from pharm section but the rest I did completely finished esp spent time in the 1st tip because some sections I HAD TO READ OVER. The last 2 to 3 wks before I tested I did these sections last pharm , legal, deleg, fund since its the most freq tested material. Remember focus and understand the rationale what Suzanne told me when I thought how was I going to remember but I did and I as well as others are living witness. Put GOD first and pray and you will succeed. Good luck to all other test takers and keep your head up. I took it a 3rd time and passed so can you or how many does not matter/

Oh yeah!! Let me tell ya! IT DOES!

I have the P/D/A book as well. I also read Kaplan strategy book before suzanne's plan. It may help however, Suzannes plan ALONE will work. I needed to put all focus in one source. Good luck 2 u ..
