TO ALL NCLEX Exam takers

My Exam is due this March in HK and I have yet to find an affordable

and nearest hotel to the testing center. I'll be traveling with a companion.

Any travel agency would you recommend? Or is it more cheaper if I plan

everything on my own?

Need your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Transportation via the MTR in Hongkong is pretty much easy and fast and as long as you stay in a hotel near the MTR station, you seems to be near the exam center. Find a cheap hotel near MTR and then try to visit the exam center a day before to give yourself a hint how long it will take to reach the center.

When I took NCLEX last Aug. 06, I stayed in a nice hotel 30 minutes away by MTR.

Now I'm thinking of staying at Ramada Hong Kong Hotel since its a lot more

cheaper and considering most of my time is spent outside roaming the city.

Lan Kwai Fong Hotel is much expensive compared to Ramada since it

opened early last year (March 2006).

Can anyone share their experiences with Ramada Hotel?

Thanks Lawrence and I'm continually checking other posts.

Despite my attempts to contact those Hotels directly, only 2/10 replied.

Have already booked a round-trip flight via Cebu Pacific for only P7,500

Good luck on your hotel canvassing.

If you still have the time to read hotel reviews from travellers themselves, try the Hong Kong Hotels forum section of the www.tripadvisor.com ; www.VirtualTourist.com ; www.travel.yahoo.com ; www.Frommers.com . I was able to get a good rate from www.HotelTravel.com . My personal choice was the Metropark Causeway Bay Hong Kong Hotel (4-star). I was able to book on-line for a Standard Harbourview room for just US$87/night (for March stay). Inclusive of the taxes, the total for 3 nights/4 days was US$261. Much cheaper than getting this room from travel agencies/other on-line bookers. Another cheaper site is www.directrooms.com , but I haven't tried booking there yet, so I cannot say if they really have secured booking system. I feel confident booking in www.HotelTravel.com since I've tried it before with my other travels abroad. You can PM me for other tips.

Hi! i've checked the hoteltravel site and it seems that their hotel rates are much cheaper than booking for a travel agent. however, i'm hav'in second thoughts in booking for them or with any other ISP travel though they guarantee that all your personal informations will be confidential.

how safe it is if i booked my reservations online?

any tips? :wink2:

Exactly what worries me. There are a number sites out there

and there's no way of determining if they are legit unless these

Hotels claim they are.

I would rather pay extra then allow someone to scam me.

Hi.

I took my NCLEX last December 27, considering its peak season I still spent only $365 for 4d/3n stay on a twin sharing room. I went for the fun tours of cebu pacific. Stayed at South Pacific Hotel.

Chose that hotel coz its in the commercial district of Causeway. Lots of malls & an MTR station are just walking distance from the hotel. Even if the hotel provides free shuttle to the test site, I opted to go there by MTR. On the day of my exam, I bought a tourist day pass worth HK$50 which is worth the money coz I used it to go to HK disneyland & explore kowloon. Mind you, a single journey to disneyland cost around HK$25.

As for the hotel room. It was decent. They even let us extend our check out time to 3pm without extra charges coz our airport transfer is 4pm.

Good Luck with your exam & hope you have a great stay in HK.

I can only vouch for the domain I've been using for my Asian travels, that is the HotelTravel.com. They use the Verisign Secure Socket Layer (www.verisign.com) to encrypt information (scrambled data) exchanged between your browser and their site. You can verify the authenticity, ownership, employment status of the domain you're interested in through this. To verify that you are on a secure web page, if you're using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will see a padlock in the lower right corner. Other browsers have similar visual cues. Major international credit cards have Zero Liability policies now (i.e. VISA) wherein you are not oblige to pay for fraudulent transactions as long as you report them immediately. Constant monitoring of your monthly statements is of utmost importance here.
