Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on TNCC.....is it difficult? I am taking it for the first time in a month & I just got a huge book in the mail to study!! I tend to freak out about these things for no reason (ACLS for example). Can anyone tell me what to focus on in the book & what the test is like??? Thanks in advance!!
Jill
In the center of the book should be some testing materials. I cant remember if they are practical or written help, but the items with stars next to them are fail points. Start to get familiar with these and review general pathophys of traumatic injury. (shock, emboli, mechanisms of injury, etc.) Good luck!
you need to get down the Mnemonics of ABC, etc.... primary/secondary. Remember to think logically and chronologically.
If you do that, you won't forget. Keep it orderly.
I'm looking over the book now and am taking the class next week. It seems to me that its basically EMS training for RNs. If you have any EMT/Paramedic background, things should be good...it seems?
no, it's not just EMS training for nurses.
It's pretty detailed and specific to the emergent situation as it relates to nursing.

It's not so different from ITLS, if you've ever had that as a paramedic. It doesn't have a prehospital focus, though. I liked TNCC. :)
Of course, I wasn't in your class, but I j took it for the first time a few days ago at my facility and the test pretty much was all stuff covered in the lecture. Most of it, anyway. I would j take really good notes during the lectures and you should be able to pass if you study your notes well.
