I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
To clarify a couple points from this post:You should plan to have all transcripts from all schools you did any coursework sent because the CA Board specifically wants to see your nursing school prereqs listed on a transcript. CA also has more prereqs than some out of state nursing programs (e.g. communication skills) so even if you didn't do prereqs for nursing at a school, maybe that random public speaking class from there is necessary for endorsement in CA.
Out of state applicants can use Live Scan fingerprints but only if the fingerprinting is done in CA. That's what I did when I endorsed my out of state license.
Not sending in my other transcript information was clearly my fault, the classes were taken back in 2001 so I really didnt think about, plus the school had changed names about 3 times, I did send in my transcript request to Carrington College which used to be Western Career which used to be Silicon Valley College which is were I graduated from with an associates in medical assisting. I also sent a copy of my "official transcript" to Carrington just so they could hopefully match me with my old records. Does anyone have any idea how long school have to keep transcripts? I'm worried since it's been so long.
As far as Live Scan, I understand that anyone can go to the state to get their fingerprints scanned, but before I spoke with anyone, I was under the impression that I could Live Scan at any US location which is not the case.
Just noticed today that the processing time at BoN has changed their dates!! They are now processing 4/16-4/30, from this page seems like the dates may even later than that, I'm just glad to see the change :) :) My goal is to move out that way around the first of the year, with a job first of course.
I am curious as well. I will be endorsing from out of state. I have family I could stay with in the Sacramento area, and am wondering if I should just fly down and take everything to them in person might help.I have a target date of being licensed by November...but this process sounds horrific. Even the temp license route.
Yikes. Never seen anything like it.
If you've got a free place to stay, you could at least get your Live Scan prints done in state. The online application wasn't available when I applied so I dropped my application off in person to save time on mail delays. Not sure which route would be best now that you can apply online.

I successfully requested transcripts from a large University from 2004 without any problems.
Okay, I'm throwing my lot in with all of you here. In the process of endorsing from IN to CA and let me just say... I'm not entirely sure "process" is the right word, more like long-ass freaking WAIT.
My timeline so far is that I requested fingerprint cards midMay and got them beginning of June, applied online June 6, mailed hard copies of fingerprint cards and cashier's check for the temporary license that same day (there was not an option to pay online for the temp license but I did pay online for everything else) and had all my transcripts sent from various schools (and there were a lot of them, my RN BSN was my second degree and CA wants ALLLLL your transcripts). Now I am just... waiting. My license status says "pending" and "open" but it has said that ever since a week or so after I turned in my app (before that it said "recieved" or something.)
I finally called the BON yesterday... again. Like many of you, I have kept on getting that "too busy to talk to you" message that hangs up on you. I got mad yesterday afternoon and kept hitting redial and redial and FINALLY got through to be put on hold... waited on hold for twenty minutes and actually got to talk to someone! The lady I spoke to was very nice, she said it looked like they had everything except my transcripts and when I protested at that (I know very well I have had all my transcripts sent in!) she said that she actually can't see transcript information on her end and they probably do have them in my file (but there was no way for her to check, apparently.). I asked what was holding my license up (10 weeks later?!) and she said they were waiting on my fingerprints back from the FBI and that once that is done, I will be able to get my temp license issued if nothing else. Finally, she told me to call back in two weeks.
Wahoo. More waiting.
Did anyone else see that the processing times for endorsement say 14-16 weeks now?!??? Everything else seems to be moving much quicker. I actually have a job offer pending licensure to start at the end of September. This whole thing just gives me anxiety.
I've been too nervous to even begin applying for jobs until I have at least a temporary license. I wasn't even sure if hospitals would even look at my application without one.
In terms of wait time... I hadn't seen that! When I applied it said 8-12 weeks. Which is still ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as 14-16!
I applied back in March. My LIVESCAN fingerprints were rejected twice so they're now completing a name search by the Department of JUstice which began July 14th and takes 30-90 days to perform. Ridiculous. I applied by mail and it was received March 23, 2016.
I am now moving to California with or without a license late September. I can only hope my name search does not take that long to perform.
When did you apply?

Thank you. It is 8 digits, and it shows up on right upper corner of the screen. It shows active license with an expiration date (2 years from now).
