Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

U.S.A. California

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I did not receive an email. I checked breeze daily and noticed it myself. I did get my license in the mail about a week after it showed up on breeze and nursy.

You can call the HR departments of where you are applying to. I called and the ones I applied to all said "temporary license" at the very least. A pending permanent one is fine if you have a temporary one. But they know how long the BRN takes and they don't want to offer a job to someone who likely can't work for several months

Thanks, kelseykelsey4! I will call the board tomorrow b/c my application apparently has "Missing Education History" - so perhaps one of the transcripts didn't make it somehow. I will also call the 2 hospitals I plan on applying to. Thank you!

Did your "missing education history" show up as soon as your name came up on BreEZe?

Here is my timeline from mailing application for endorsement to having a license # listed as active on Breeze:

2/17/16: Livescan fingerprinting done while I was visiting state of CA, in San Juan Capistrano.

2/18/16: All application documents mailed via USPS, transcripts had been requested one week prior. Requested Nursys to verify NJ license to CABRN.

3/18/16: Registered for Breeze on my own (never received email instruction to do so, nor any other communication from CABRN)

Checked in weekly on Breeze: No license information available.

4/18/16: Finally did some research on this site (Thank you for all of your information, sparked me into further action!) Found out I needed to link a license to my name on Breeze & did so. Breeze now shows application opened 4/5/16. Application status-- open/pending, with no deficiencies or other notes entered. Also called DOJ to verify that fingerprints were accepted (confirmed).

5/25/16: CABRN website finally shows that applications received from 2/16-2/28 are being processed.

5/30/16: After more impatience on my part (and reading suggestion here on Allnurses) I registered a formal complaint with Division of Consumer Affairs regarding the inappropriately lengthy time waiting for a license to be issued when there are no deficiencies and all documents had been received.

5/31/16, 3pm: Received email from Div of Consumer Affairs that my complaint would be forwarded to licensing supervisor at CABRN for direct review & response.

5/31/16 7pm: Received email from ------------------------ licensing supervisor that my application is being processed with the group of apps received in the 2nd half of February.

5/31/16 10pm: Coincidence??? I logged onto Breeze to find my status as "Active Current" issued on today's date!!!! Hallelujah!

Thank you to all who posted previously, it's been a long 14 week wait, but I can now move on with my life!

I had called them and unless you receive a letter in the mail that says you're "missing education history" it basically means they haven't processed your transcripts yet.

my view application status which is pending and open disappeared this morning and no license available. does it mean they are processing my application?

So, I'm a travel nurse and I applied for my CA license 3/24 with Livescan in CA done, nursys verification complete, and transcripts sent. My check was finally cashed 4/25. The temporary license says "pending" with a date of receipt 5/26 and the permanent one says "pending" with a date of receipt 4/25. What the heck does that mean?!

I also wanted to advise to never accept a contract without license in hand. I learned the hard way by taking a contract with American Mobile. I was supposed to start 6/13 and my license isn't here yet. I learned the hard way!

Hello I am also in similar situation. I applied for my license 4/11, including livescan. My perm license says pending, and open under details with a date of 5/4. My temporary license has a date of 6/7. What do you mean you learned the hard way? I have also accepted a position for 6/26 but it is pending my license. I was told by my recruiter at AMH that the hospital is aware of my situation and that if needed we would push my start date back to the next orientation.

Tara07, my recruiter told me they could expedite the process (which they didn't) I was fortunate that my current contract in AZ would extend me for a few more weeks or I would've been jobless and homeless. I'm going to give it one more week with CA and if my license hasn't come thru, I'll have to look at other states, which is not what I want at all! Where are you on assignment?

I applied for my license 4/1 and I don't have anything that says "pending." What am I doing wrong?

What company was the recruiter with?

They received my application on March 9, and they are finally processing the 1st 2 weeks of March! I also did the live scan. I am 14 weeks and counting, have not received my temporary yet either (even though it says 10-12 weeks). Will hopefully get my license within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully the end is near!
