Tidewater Community College - Spring 2016 Applicants

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hello all! It's a little early, but I wanted to make a new thread for all those applying this summer for TCC's Spring program! I dropped off my application this past Tuesday and am already ready for October 15th to hurry up and get here, lol!

That's great! I took CHM 111 last year to satisfy the requirement. I'm taking SOC 201, and it's the last of the department required gen ed that I need to take. I'm also taking BIO 102 because I plan to minor in Biology.

One month down, one more to gooo! 😊

Just four short weeks until we all receive our letters! Hope you all are doing well!

Hello everyone! I am also waiting to hear back from TCC's program for spring 2016! Waiting for this letter is agonizing! Hopefully we'll hear within the next 2 weeks! :)

Well Everyone, we basically we have 17 more days before letters are mailed out. The closer it get the, I get more nervous. I have a full schedule this semester, I have not really been thinking about it. But now that its getting closer to knowing, its starting to hit me that I might soon be a nursing student. I am so excited and GOOD LUCK to everyone!!!!

reading this post really brings back memories. I was scrolling through my all nurses account just to look at my old responses that I didnt get to read and I decided to look at the new thread. I remember applying to the tcc program and not getting accepted the first time But I applied again and got in the second time... the first time I was an alternate but no one dropped. Now I can say that I have graduated this past summer , took my boards and successfully passed on my first attempt. Waiting for my interview for Sentara. I just want to say not to worry because the waiting game can be cruel but you all have really good grades and I'm sure you guys are smart and will do well. My GPA going into the program was a 3.6 but my hesi score was only a 78% so to the person who is worried about the HESI exam don't worry just pray. If it's meant for you it is for you. The number of applicants when I applied was 358 so it's a competitive program. The better the grades the better your chances. Good luck to you all and God bless. I am here for any questions you may have.

nursenthemakin I remember you from all of my days/nights scouring this site for TCC nursing information! I loved following your journey (and everyone else's) and I'm so glad to see such a happy ending. Congrats on your graduation and for passing your boards! It's so nice that you stopped by to remind all of us to have hope and keep pushing forward. :)

Is anyone else getting more and more nervous? Ahhh less than 10 days! These two months flew by (for me at least) but this next week will be TORTURE!

@maegsy Thanks a lot. I always like to pay it forward. I was in your shoes 2 short years ago so I fully understand and I remember reading other success stories that gave me hope that I could make it too. Interviewing with sentara soon. Please pray all goes well. Please let me know WHEN you get your acceptance letter into the program !! Rooting for you all. ..:nurse:

I'm starting to get nervous as well, I hate the waiting. I can't believe it is already October, it seems like it was just August when I submitted the application. My parents have both been asking me if I heard anything yet, even though I don't expect to hear anything for at least another week. Hang in there everyone!!

I remember I got my letter exactly on the last day of the deadline to receive a response so if you haven't gotten a letter yet don't panic. For some reason it seems they wait until the last minute to send the letters out

Wow! The time really has flown by for me. Judging from the post from last years spring cohorts, I'm assuming we should all receive our decision letters by 10/21 (if they mail them out Friday 10/16). I've been asking the nurses that I work with how I could be proactive in preparing for nursing school (specifically the nurses that graduated from TCC). They've all given me the same answer! Familiarize yourself with NCLEX style questions. Knowing the right answer is just a small portion of each problem/scenario. You also have to know why the other choices were not the best answer. This semester is pretty light for me, so I decided to start looking into some of the NCLEX books. I bought the Saunders book on Amazon, and I checked out Reviews and Rationales from the library. Audible also has some choices, so I've been listening to NCLEX practice questions when I am sitting in traffic allll day and night. I'm not sure which fundamentals textbook they are using next semester, but the first five chapters from the text they are using this semester is available through Kindle as a sample! Allnurses has been my goto for advice. There are so many posts from past, present, and future nurses on how to successfully ease through nursing school. I am very excited to start this chapter of my scholastic career, but first...please let me get an acceptance letter!;)

Ahhh the anxiety! Get here already, letters!!! If anyone gets theirs make sure you come let us know! :) best of luck to everyone

Eeeeek! Today is finally the day!!! Praying that we all receive our letters and get good news! 🙏📪🙌
