Tidewater Community College-hopefuls application July 2014

Published

This is a new tread for anyone applying July 15, 2014 for TCC Nursing program.

i got Kozier and ERB's Fundamentals Nursing concept, process, and practice ninth edition. However is not for sure, they used it this past semester. I bought it because it was only 30 at ebay.

I'd apply to both ODU and the concurrent because they can/will accept on the contingency that you finish up a gen ed classes. They also offer "Maymester" classes which is a quick 3 week semester starting May 12 so people can begin in the fall.

Maymester classes??? Do you have more details about them or know where we can get more information. Are they at TCC or ODU?

Well I'm also not as competitive for the regular program at odu. For my shots I need the PPD and most likely the Varicella because I do not see that on my records which is strange. I also don't understand how I have to wait another 4 weeks to get the second shot because by then it'll be too late. I hope they can explain it more clearly tomorrow when I call up there.

Do you need to wait 4 weeks for which shot?? I am concern because the VA couldn't locate my shot records, but they are doing the titers so I can prove immunity.

Yea I just got my situation straight (thank God)! I just got my Varicella titer done today and got started on my first PPD so I'm praying I get good results back.

No I haven't applied to ODU yet; I thought we had to have all the gen ed classes completed before applying. So I've decided to apply for Fall at a later date.

I dropped off the blue acceptance letter today. I have received my results for the certified profile, and bought my . I went on an uploaded all my shot records and CPR certification to the certified profile. I picked up my physical form today but I can't upload it until I get my second PPD next week. Wow I still can't believe I'm getting ready for he program.

You?! Lol I'm doing all of this and I'm an alternate but I'm not complaining whatsoever. I'm just glad it's not another denial letter Lol. But I dropped off my blue paper as well today, I'm going in for my shot tomorrow and I should have all my results back by next week. I already purchased my certifiedprofile and uploaded a few things. I'm also doing my CPR class this Saturday so God willing I'll have everything done by next week.

Was the certified profile easy to manage? I need to take the cpr class too, where are you taking it?

Yea it's pretty easy to manage. I downloaded the app which allows me to take pictures of my paperwork to upload the documents. But I was going to take my CPR class at northstar first response out chesapeake but then I called the nursing office and asked if I could take it online. She said as long as its through the American heart of association or basic life support (BLS) then I will be fine. So I'll be taking it online for a cheaper price.

I have signed for the certified profile, and bought my nurse insurance. Yesterday had all my shots, and drawn blood for the titers. I have to be back tomorrow to read the PPD test. And have another appointment Monday for the rest of the paperwork. The day after I got the letter, I went to school to drop the blue sheet to accept my spot on the nursing program. I bought the book for NUR 108, and reading a little bit.

Did you go to your primary care physician or were you able to get them done at an urgent care? I don't need that many immunizations but I need the physical too. I don't have a doctor here so I was just wondering what the cheapest option was. Also are they just waiving the whole PPD 4 week check thing? Cos we got the letters last week and we have to let them know by the 11th if we want to accept the position....obviously thats not enough time to wait 4 weeks and get the second phase done.

I think thats the date you need to turn in the blue form, not the date everything needs to be completed.
