Tidewater Community College Fall 2018

Published

Hello all fellow applicants for TCC's Fall Semester 2018!

I have been scouring the most recent TCC post, and the latest applicants have been offered their seats in the program, woohoo!!! As a result, I have decided to post a new thread for the next round of applications.

Just curious, will anyone be a resident of Virginia for only a short time before applying? I will be moving in December and I was wondering if my measly two month-long residency will hold up as well against someone who has been a resident of Virginia for over a year.

Happy application cycle! :) Hope to see some of you someday soon.

Have you ever heard of anyone attending the required orientation after they submit their application? I was going to go today but in light of the "possible" snow, they canceled it. I was told by Alicia to just attend the one in February, but that is 6 days after the application deadline. í ½í¸±í ½í¸“ any ideas??

I reached out to them about the cancellation. They said that if you put down that you intend to go to the February session, they'll let you apply.

Ok, that's good to know. Thanks for sharing! I asked Alicia the same thing, but I'm anal so I emailed the dean just to be on the safe side. She will be back on Monday. Hope to see you all there/meet you all!

Hi guys! Does it really take 6 weeks to evaluate your transcripts?

It took awhile but when I applied last time I called them about it and they said they don't have to be done reviewing it before you apply.

I also am applying for the Fall 2018 program. I am incredibly nervous about the Hesi. Has anyone taken it already? I am trying to utilize as much time as I can before taking it. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hey! Before I took the HESI, I too was extremely nervous. The two biggest resources I used were the HESI exam prep by elsevier and the pocket prep app. The app was 13.00, I think..but it was SO helpful. My only complaint is that each part of the test has the same questions over and over...I think there are 1500 questions total? But it pretty much mirrored the difficulty level of the HESI exam, or at least I thought so...so give it a look-see! I also used the "Hesi a2 words" on quizlet. Combined, these really helped me out. I haven't even taken a chemistry class before, but with these resources I did pretty well.

For the math, it was primarily fraction problems, ratios, a couple word problems.....and there may be a Roman numeral or two in there, but I don't remember seeing any on mine. Good luck! You'll do great!

Hi bowersjc! I saw on the spring 2018 thread you mentioned taking the a&p 2 online. How did you like it? TCC had no problems with transferring it?

Hey! I took it through nursing abc portage through Geneva college. I called to double check if it was okay and they said it was! I also took A&P I, micro, and chem through them.

Thank you, you are awesome!! I am going to use my tax money to sign up for the a&p. I wish i knew about this before taking Nas2, I took a&P before but TCC wouldn't transfer it.

I turned in my application the other day and took the HESI exam. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Now the waiting game begins! Wishing you all the best!

Two months and counting!!
