Stars glad today wasn't too busy

Dianah hope your DH is doing better

NJ22 that's a whole lotta cookies.  I've worn a guard like that at night for quite a number of years

Tweety glad your Secret Santa chose well

Work was not bad despite having a new case.  Did have to finally call an unpleasant patient with some mental health issues who was transferred to me recently.  Thankfully she wasn't too unpleasant, I think I may be a bit better than some of my fellow nurses in talking to those with mental health issues

After work did a bunch of grocery shopping and stopped at the library.  Then had an extra long vestry meeting due to needing to discuss the minister's salary for next year.  I think I may have 1 more meeting next month, then thankfully I'm done

Keeping an eye on the cat.  She's been having an increased frequency of hairballs, which has happened  before, but this time it's unusually bad.  I think she's had 2-3 this week already. But other than that she seems normal.  I doubt the vet can do much, but if this continues I'll  have to make an appointment

Will have counseling during lunch today but otherwise it should (hopefully) be an ordinary day at work and after

Will be in the mid 40s again. Will get warmer after this but we're supposed to get a lot of rain

Set my alarm for 8 AM, advanced it an hour when it went off. And did it again at 10 AM and finally got up at 11:30 AM. Now I have to hurry and get Nannie up before BiL comes to pick me up. Our appt at the bank is at 1 PM so we will probably be on our way in about 40 minutes. Niece will be sitting with Nannie and Momo. More later----

I am not up to date on your cat's problems. But bacon grease or a small strip of bacon always worked for (me) my cat. Although sometimes when I had people over she would march into the room and cough up a hairball in front of them!!

I got her at the pound when I was starting graduate school. She was always in 'poor health'  (numerous vet visits) but lived to be 21 years old. I came home from getting engaged. She was dead. She got me through a lot of tough times. I Worked a lot of 'rent a nurse' shifts as working full time or even part time was NOT an option. I always promised her 'we would work UP to a one bedroom, to a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom ' I proved 2 on my promise. I  bought a great house for cats. She still delighted  the guests with her sneaking out to see guests, vomiting in weird places but  she was the joy of my life through graduate school, moving to another state/home etc.

One of mine (Turbo) has been prone to hairballs all her life. I need to talk to our vet because Binx continues to have diarrhea/loose stools and we need to discuss quality of life/ end of life with regards to Darby.

We are expecting warm (60s and 70s) and wet weather for a few days. At this point it looks like it won't actually be raining on Christmas Day. Today is the potluck at the hospital and I am full and there was a lot of good food. This evening there's a party, too. A local diner is renting their dining room (decorated) for evenings during the Christmas season so that's where we're going. The hospital will provide chips/salsa/queso and soft drinks. We have a Gma sitter so Hubs and I can go. There's a gift exchange. I'm so unimaginative that I bought gift certificates to that diner (their food is really good).

Went to choir practice last night. About 10:00 got a text that the ER was overwhelmed so went in to help move things along. Didn't do much -- some Covid and flu and strep swabs, some medications...Got home about midnight but couldn't settle down to sleep immediately so was tired this morning.

I'd love to have some real time off. Some day I'll plan that and take off a couple of weeks at Christmas time. It wouldn't make sense, though, unless and until Gma moves to a nursing home (or to eternity). Twin B is working Fri, Sat, and Sun nights. Twin A is working Sun and Mon evenings. We'll squeeze in gifting and dinner Monday between Twin B getting home at 7 am and Twin A leaving for work around 4 pm.

All this posting about hairballs makes me want to gag, LOL. I notice my gag reflex is much more sensitive than it used to be. I'm glad my dogs have minimal hair. Baked more cookies, now on our way to shop.

Wow! BiL and I spent 2 hrs at the bank, getting the accounts untangled and changed to the right names, etc. That will take a little time to get the new checks, etc, but I don't have to deal with Nannie's bills any more, because they will be going to BiL's address soon. We have to consult at the Courthouse about something, I just can't remember what right now. The woman at the bank who helped us was GREAT; having her doing the 'heavy lifting' (money/financial/paperwork and goggeldy-gook) made things easier. Nevertheless I feel kind of overwhelmed, but I believe that will ease off after all is said and done.

BiL did have Nannie's will in the box of her papers he took home; he said it said the house was to go to hubby, and then, since he has pre-deceased me, it is mine ... that is, if or when Nannie ever decides to pass away. Anyway, I will read it when we go over there on Saturday for Christmas Eve supper. And I'll get to see what BiL mentioned about the mother-in-law.......two bedroom apartment, or little house, or whatever it was he said last week. I don't know if it is already there, or if he plans on building something or adding to their house? But things are slowly being taken care of and accomplished.

I've got some more cardboard boxes into which I can pack away some of hubby's stuff from my 'new' room, and will deal with those things later. And I can box the excess from my 'old' little tiny bedroom, and take my time to go through stuff to see what I can shred or have shredded. Not sure when we are going to move the bed, desk, and file cabinet into the bigger room. Soon, I hope, But meanwhile I have to empty off the surfaces (of which there are not too many) where I have my stuff piled; it is higgeldy-piggeldy!

Okay, I'm wiped out, so I will sign off now. Hope everyone's pets get better....

Wow, No Stars, you got a LOT accomplished today!  What a relief!  I'll bet Momo was glad to see you come home.

With six cats, we are good at cleaning up cat-vomit.  Each episode is assessed for content (was it a hair ball?), and we always wonder WHO did it?  We wish they would sign their particular creations...  so we know which one to watch, if watching is needed.

Ado, sounds like a very enjoyable afternoon, with all your activities, and good food!  Hope the family stays well.

londonflo, our pets endear themselves firmly to us, and it is very hard to lose them, when the time comes.  We are always comforted that we gave them the BEST life: always good food, attention, petting, nice places to sleep.  They were greatly loved.  And we think they give us more than we give them. ?

I fell asleep for a brief nap in the late morning, and had a HORRIBLE, scary dream: driving my old red Expedition, and I couldn't see over the dash so I couldn't see to steer, and couldn't reach the brake pedal to slow down!  I kept adjusting the seat, to try to see and to reach the brake pedal -- the car was moving the whole time, I couldn't stop it, could barely see to steer it --- it was all VERY harrowing and felt real!!  Then I woke up and realized it was a dream, and was SO relieved!!

I tootled over to Target to walk the aisles.  Since Bed, Bath, and Beyond closed,  I thought I would check Target out, to see if similar items were offered.  They were, for the most part.  Then I cruised through the nearby Barnes and Noble.  I could have bought MANY books there, but held myself to one, The Underworld, Journeys to the Depths of the Ocean, by Susan Casey.  I gifted myself earlier with a neck light setup, so I can read without leaning into the bedside lamp.  I will use that neck light to read this book. ?

Then I picked up a few things at the grocery store.  We have leftovers for tonight, from a Pho Ha restaurant: had Tofu Bahn Mi for lunch, and may have veggies for dinner.

We will take oldest ds out to dinner for Christmas Day, so no one *has to* cook or do dishes. ?  If dh asks what I want for Christmas, I always "Pffffffftttt!  I order whatever I want, yanno!"  He grins and says "yeah, so do I."  I did get him a little surprise, so he will have SOMEthing to open on Christmas Day.  Nothing much, but something unusual.  I will wrap the book up, if he wants me to open a gift. ?

Have a good evening!

Good evening.

Had a very busy day.  Sent two patients to ICU.  Had a patient the doctor came to get me about that had mental status changes...he found her nude, full of urine in the bed talking nonsense.  Fun times.

Had an embarrassing moment when the 25 year old nurse whom I was her Secret Santa asked me if I was her SS and of course I said no.  She proceeded to  show me the gift I got her...made fun of it, laughed and other coworkers laughed and made fun of it.  I died inside while I hid my humiliation and laughed along.  A few hours later I confessed that it was me.  I said it wasn't meant to be taken seriously and I got them as a fundraiser.  They were two very corny books of affirmations one was "You Goat This" and had pics of goats in an animal actuary and an positive affirmation and the other was "Ewe Do Ewe" pics of sheep.  She took a closer look and realized it wasn't a joke or a children's book and loved the idea it was a fund raiser for the animal sanctuary.  Still it was the most Epic Fail, I've had in a long time.
