Hey yall! Anyone applying for the Pre-FAll 2021 (begins in May 2021) at TJU at Center City. Feel free to share concerns about stats, the application process, and more!

Hey !! I got in !! Did you create a facebook group !?
Hey guys!
I finished my application September 19, the application was complete September 28, haven’t heard anything yet, but I really hope I do soon. I applied for Fact 1, Center City. I’m from Philly so direct any Philly questions my way if needed ?
I’ve gotten into 2 other schools relatively fast so I’m a little worried that I haven’t heard anything from here as this is my first choice. It is however pretty early I guess; 2 weeks since the application was “complete”. But the one school wants a response by October 30 and I don’t want to commit until I hear from Jefferson!
Posting stats for future reference if I do get in, I currently have a 3.54 GPA overall, all prereqs completed with A’s and B’s (Chemistry I got a C not sure if that was a prereq here, can’t remember), and a previous background in dentistry. My LOR were from a mathematics professor and an anatomy & physiology/nutrition professor that know me very well. I’m 21 y/o and graduate undergrad with a business degree right before the program start date.
So thankful to have this thread to stress with everybody with the same goal, I know we are all going to do great! My other schools didn’t do an interview so I’m very curious as to how Jefferson does things with COVID and all now.
Looking forward to all of us getting accepted
Has anyone read up on the bad reviews for this program? I hope it has changed since then ?

Congratulations! I did create a FB Group! Search on FB Jefferson Fact 1 for 2021-2022 school year and it should come up. I'm sure it will take some time before many people search for the group, but anyone who is 100% going please apply for the group ? Cant wait to meet you all

I would love to know more on the "bad reviews" you're referring to on Jeff. Is there a way you could PM me?
Hi everyone! I just checked my application portal and it says for me to schedule an interview! I would love as much advice as possible and any questions that were previously asked! Also, does anyone know if the majority of applicants receive an interview or if they also tell people no before they offer interviews?

Hey Nikki,
The interview was relaxed and they will send you example questions in an email sometime before the interview. It is a group interview so there will be a few other candidates in the video room with you. Overall, the questions they ask are easy ones if you are passionate about wanting to be a nurse, so don't sweat it!

Heyyyy ! Girl Congratulations, when I saw the option to schedule an interview I nearly fell out of my chair, so I can understand your excitement. And cut yourself a bit more slack, not everyone did recieve one, so be proud of yourself for that ! Of course I'll answer as many details as I can remember !
So for starters they actually send you a list of “possible” questions that they ask. Those were actually the exact questions they asked with the exception of perhaps two or three questions that were asked at random. It's a “laid back” interview, which is the term a lot of people like to use, but dude it didn't stop me from being so nervous my palms were sweaty.
Format of the Interview : its normally 20 students who enter the zoom call total, then another 5 faculty members.
Step 1: Immediately after the zoom call started, the main narrator introduced the name of the other faculty members on the call. This is because one of these 5 faculty members will be the interviewer of your team / break out room.
Step 2: We then proceeded to watch a video on the history and mission of Jefferson (which was pretty enlightening, there were details that they didn't mention on the website) Like their pass rate for 2019 is 92% but the past years had been high 80’s.
Step 3: So if no one has any more questions, they send you each out into randomly selected breakout rooms. Now remember how I mentioned there were 5 faculty members, yea well now each of them breakout into a room of only 4 student (including yourself, hence the group style interview)
Step 4: We left the main zoom area containing all 20 participants about 25 minutes into the call. Then when we entered the break out room, we were instructed that we’d have approximately 35 to 45 minutes to answer questions. The faculty member said that she would ask each of the 4 of us a question one at a time, and we would each take turns answering, in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction (it was up to us who offered to go first, at least for the first 2 - 3 questions).
Step 5: The first question is always Tell me about yourself and Why you choose Thomas Jefferson (combined in one question), cause I totally messed up and answered the first part of the question and forgot that there was a second because I was sooo nervous, and I offered to go first (genius right). Anyway I'm telling you that because even though I interpreted that as a huge mistake, it wasn't exactly and I got an acceptance 2 days later ! So it is fairly “laid” back. A good sentiment in group interviewers is to really listen to what your other “future friends” are saying. Try and get out of your own head long enough to hear them, and if possible incorporate them as people and what they said as reference for how you answer your next question. All of the people in my group did that and it showed humility, because like it or not for the next 12 months we are going to need each other to survive, and a good nurse wouldn't view those people in her breakout room as competition but as future assets or friends.
Step 6: The same question is asked to everyone until we've gone around and done that three times. Then we were each asked a unique question. For the last question it returned back to us each answering the same question. Which was an “elevator question” Where we were asked, If the interviewer was stuck in an elevator with you and some other person both wanting admission why should TJU pick you.
Step 7: we leave breakout rooms and return to the main session. Now congratulations, you're powered through the anxiousness. So here is where you ask questions that you may have about the program for the remainder of the time left.
Step 8 The wait: So typically the turnaround time is very fast. We were told that in a week from the day you interview you'd hear back. I Interviewed on Wednesday and Heard back on Friday night. If you don't hear back by that following Wednesday that means that there is a possibility your application went through “faculty review”. Because during the interview no one has seen your grades, Just your personal statement LOC, and maybe CV. So the interview is where they further gauge you. After the interview they enter the worksheet on your interview details into a data, where it is matched to your transcripts side by side. It's at this point that they determine whether your grade matches the person they saw. If it does then you hear back within the week, if it doesn't, that when it's sent to faculty review, where a board of new eyes takes a look at why you might have retaken A&P 1 or whatever. And from there the 4 faculty members who interviewed you now become your advocates. Because their job is to convince them to let you in seeing that they have spoken to you personally so they can vouch for what they said. But don't stress because simply making it to the interview is a great sign. And if you did get an interview then there is a 90% chance you hear good news! SO kick ***, I hope this helps, these are all the things I wished someone answered for me, if you have any more questions let me know !

Wow! Thank you so much this is incredibly helpful. What year did you go through the interview process? Do you remember any questions that were atypical such as the elevator question? Thanks again, I'm freaking out!

Heyy yeah of course ! And I applied for this cohort for the May 2021 start. I haven't graduated undergrad yet, but I wanted to make sure I knew exactly where I was going when I graduated. Those are the details from my interview a few days ago, you know because everything is on zoom. I just put in my deposit, so I'll be seeing you soon ! Is Jefferson your NUMBER 1 choice?
And everyone in my breakout room answered it very similarly, (this is where we bragged about ourselves just alittle). Everyone said that nursing was a constigative element of what made them who the are. And why all of their experience (CV) would make them stand out in the crowd. Granted I'm not sure if this was everyone else's final question, in other breakout rooms I mean. But nonetheless GOOD LUCK !

Does anyone know if just anyone who is accepted makes the group for FB Prefall 2021 FACT 1 - or does the school make it? I know previous start dates have groups so people can connect before the program starts.
