Thomas Jefferson FACT Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi.

I have been accepted into the TJU FACT program that begins in May but the orientation isn't until a week before classes begin and I would like to get a better idea of the scheduling. I know it's 5 days a week but does anyone have some more specific info? i have to arrange for child care and transportation and a general idea of the class/clinical hours would be helpful.

also...anyone else out there starting the program with me in May?

Thank you!

I went on the site the other day actually and found that my school administers the MAT...so luckily I don't have to travel far to take it. I went to the store n bought a MAT practice booklet today...i should start looking stuff over now so I can take the test relatively soon...my school offers it every Wednesday afternoon so scheduling doesn't look too bad. I hope I get to join you guys in May :(

My two cents: take the online practice test. If you do even halfway decent, schedule to take the MAT at the next available date. You already know that your score doesn't matter much in terms of ranking your application, and you know that the longer you wait, the greater the chance the class will be filled up. So just get it over with and complete your application.

OK, so that was me kicking your butt. I apologize. ;) But really, if everything else is done (and/or your prereqs are in process and nearly done), you will be kicking YOURSELF if the only thing that kept you from getting admitted was that darn MAT!

No, I very much appreciate your advice...and your right...I should just take this darn test...let me see how I do on the practice though, I tried some practice questions the other day and they weren't that easy...some were, but others just didnt make sense. but whatever, I'll try and schedule it for next week or so, so I can just be done with this stuff. I would be upset if this stupid MAT was the only thing keeping me from getting accepted. Thanks AtomicWoman!!! =]

Hmmm...any word yet? My application was complete on the 11th, and I figured I would have heard something by now if we are supposed to know by the 21st of this month! :p

Appplication was complete on September 14th. Can we assume if we have not heard from them for a interview that we are not accepted? [GPA 3.2, GRE 1170 (470 V 700 M)]

Debating on contacting to see if they have any spots on open for Spring. (was accepted for fall 08 but did not enroll- liked JEFF muchh better)

Thanks a bunch!

Yes!!!! Got the following email today:

"Congratulations! You have been offered admission to the FACT program for

Pre-Fall 2009. Your offer of admission along with other important

information is on its way to you in the mail."

Yippee! So everyone else chime in when you get notified. :)

Tink, you might want to call NK at Jeff and ask her that question if you haven't been called for an interview yet. It does seem like you met the deadline, so I don't know why they didn't call you.

Looking forward to May!

AW

CONGRATULATIONS AtomicWoman!!!

I'm sorta losing hope for me because they haven't called or anything...only letter I received so far is about them not receiving my scores for the MAT or GRE (which I have not taken yet)....I don't know if I should anymore, another factor is Chemistry is kicking my butt right now...ugh and i cant even think about taking another semester of it in the spring. Jefferson is killing me with all these prereqs. although its my first choice, I'm anticipating 's letter because I feel that alot of pressure will be lifted off my shoulders. but oh well, I will keep waiting...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, JoJo! :)

I'm in the same boat...my app was complete Sept 11, and I've only received a letter saying my application was complete and they will let me know by the 21st. From talking to Niki Kelley I thought my chances were pretty good of getting into the program, so I'm a little surprised to have not heard anything yet!

Hey guys,

I contacted Niki this morning by email to see if my application was in fact complete and under review, and she said she's swamped with applications and interviews, and will end up interviewing people up until the 20th! Haha, so I don't think we have anything to worry about...although I think she's really stressed out and my email probably didn't help my case :p

I am in too...got my acceptance/admission email from Nikki yesterday....so i said my thank you prayers and now onto the process of the whole nursing thing

So my fellow 09' FACTers ...those that got your acceptance email....what was your first reaction and damn where to we start from here?..lol

To those that didnt get in yet...keep your fingers crossed..you would get in

So how do we pay for this thing, any ideas? you guys wanna combine resources and we split it equally amongst ourselves?

Congrats, Junglewarrior! And Aptotic and others who haven't heard, just TRY to stay patient. I know how hard that is!

For those who get accepted, do NOT email NK about the list of pre-admission things we have to get done (HIPAA and safety presentations, etc.). Apparently, a bunch of people went to the website with the instructions for what we have to do prior to starting class and then they bombarded NK with questions. :) Yep, Type A FACTers, hard at work. LOL Some of the tasks cannot be done before Spring, anyway. We got an email from her yesterday, and her frustration with having to deal with so many questions (that are pretty much self-explanatory on the webpage, BTW) was really evident. She is planning an online chat in November to answer questions about those requirements. So hang tight!

I wasn't too surprised when I got my letter, to answer your question, JW. I had been accepted to APW last year but decided FACT was a better fit for me. The fact that my application was complete except for updated transcripts probably played into the fact that I got my interview and acceptance pretty quickly.

As for paying for it, UGH! We can get $12,500 in federal loans, but that leaves a lot of money to find. With the credit crunch so bad, I'm wondering what the state of private student loans will be by next Spring. [Trying not to stress too much about this...]

Anyway, congrats to all who got in, and I hope to hear from more of you as you get your notification! :)
