today I had to go to the Health Careers building to get my advisor to sign off on my schedule for next semester. I was walking down the halls past all of the nursing classrooms and the instructors' offices. As I walked down one hall, all the pictures of each graduating class from the past 10 years were on the wall. I stood there for 10 minutes and looked at them and got goosebumps. Just thinking that one day (hopefully sooner than later) my picture will be hanging on those walls!! Does anyone else feel like this??? I can't WAIT to be accepted into the nursing program!!

I walk past the nursing graduates' pictures every time I go to my psychology class, and I feel the same way. Can't wait to get in. (Hope and pray I get in!)

I don't think that sounds geeky at all. I do that kind of stuff all the time! It's nice to know that sort of idealism and commitment still exist out there. I'm 44 now, so I've become a little cynical. But when I think about becoming a nurse (second career), I think back to the "Cherry Ames" books that inspired me as a youth and still get a little goosebumpy!

I wish more people would feel proud to be a nurse like that. I am in the program now and I still look at those pictures all the time. I can not wait until I can call myself an RN.

I graduated in May - My picture probably won't be on the wall until the December grads graduate. But I do go into the school from time to time to check :) Can't wait to see it!

Nope, doesn't sound geeky at all!!!
If you've read some of my other posts, or if you have seen my site, you may have seen this pic, or read what I plan to do:
It's of my nanny, great aunt, and aunt. lol
When I graduate, I plan on printing out a black and white photo of myself and morphing myself with them!
So, no way do I think that's geeky! Good luck to you!

It's definitely not geeky!!! A fellow student and I were talking in the hallway today after we passed our final skills lab test (thank goodness that's over). I looked up at all those pictures and said "just think, in 18 months we'll be up on that wall." I'm not sure she was impressed but just saying it gave me goosebumps :)
:uhoh21: hmmmmm, either that or we're all geeks!!!!!! :chuckle

Fun2care, that is so awesome that you have had a generation of nurses in your family. I kind of wish I did. I will be the first nurse in my family and as a matter of fact the first or second to get a college degree (my brother and I are both in college and we have about the same time frame left, so its a race till end LOL j/k) None of my aunts or uncles, grandparents or parents had went to college so this is a new beginning for my family.
As to the OP's post NO WAY! is it geeky. I do it every time I am near the nursing hall. If we cant dream about something, how can we achieve it.
P.S. The quote in my sig line is my nursing programs motto. So I hold it close to my heart knowing that if I stick to that philosophy I can do anything. So dream away!:zzzzz
Thanks y'all! :) I'm looking forward to see if there are any graduation pics on the walls at whichever school I get accepted to. I'll feel the same way y'all do!
WHEN I finish, I will be the first in my generation (out of sisters) to graduate.

I met with my a/c yesterday to sign up for A&P II & Micro (my last two nursing pre-reqs) and I got goosebumps just talking to her! I told her that too - she just smiled. :) I get so excited and feel like I finally belong every time I walk into that building - I can't wait until I'm there myself!!!
