i currently have a job. it's not a bad job honestly(as far as ltc goes), but there are basically no benefits except like retirement. anyway i have a job interview tomorrow for a govt. job (veteran's hospital) and they have all sorts of benefits, annual raises and bonuses and they might even pay more, not sure yet though. but i'm starting to get used to my current job(i've only been there 3 weeks) and feeling comfortable with everyone and knowing all of the residents and i actually do like it. so what if i do get this new job? do i take it and just up and leave my current job? i hate doing that to people. and what if i don't like it, will my first job take me back after leaving them? i'm having like a mini crisis over this. some input would be nice. thanks! :)
Long.

]First off, congrats on getting both job offers. Are you working full-time at your current job? Going to school? If none of the above applies I'd personally accommodate both jobs part-time so you have the best of both worlds. If the government job doesn't pan out as you like, you always have your current job to fall back on. ]Of course, this would be done with a little adjustment with your current hours where you work right now. Just my . ]Good luck with your decision!

The VA after interview process can take up to 6 months to get offically hired! So don't burn your bridges just yet. If you get the VA position (WTG), offer to give the place you are working a two week notice, with the explanation that you were offered a postion that better fit your needs at this time and are thankful for the opportunity they provided you. Sometimes they just say, no thank you can make tonight your last night since yuu haven't been there that long.

va job interviews are not always definite you will find yourself with 20-30 other people being interviewed. keep your current job for now dont let it be known your being interviewed and just carry on with normal routine. if the va calls and your hired then take it benifits are great not to many places offer them
congrats on the interview!!!

People I have met have been very happy working at the VA. Great benefits. You would be wise to take this job. When you discuss leaving with your old job, ask to go to part time to keep your foot in the door. One shift a month would be all it takes. Lots of people stay on the roster at their old job when they change jobs. Good luck.
hey thanks everyone for replying but i did get the job! i start the 22nd. i'm telling my current job monday when the don is there. and that is a good idea about workin like 1 or 2 shifts a month. oh! and i get free health, dental, and vision insurance (i currently have none of that) so that kinda sold me.lol
Be sure to put your "change in status" request in writing to your DON, so that you are not in a position where one thing is said to you, but something else can happen. You want to get what you want out of the change, not possibly get messed over. Good luck with your new job.
