This is what I recommend to pass the NCLEX...

Published

so after the 4-long-day agonizing wait (in california), i found out this morning that i passed!!!!!! :D:bow::yeah::p

this is the sweetest and greatest feeling in the world! all the hardwork paid off! the computer shut off @ 75 ?s. i got 17 satas, lots of prioritizations, lots of infection control, teaching, drag/drop, 2 calculations, and tons of meds. i was glad that the computer shut off at 75, otherwise i felt like i could've not handled it anymore. whew, i seriously thought that i failed. i can't imagine i'm saying this like everyone else but this exam is really crazy! it really tests you emotionally, physically, and mentally! you feel like a failure, depressed, miserable after the exam, but eventually knowing that you actually did okay. maybe they do that in purpose so that nurses would value their licenses even more..

well i just want to share some tips to those who are about to take the nclex. i was surfing this website for inspiration, support, and information, etc..so now it's my turn to share!

i recommend taking kaplan complete review. i found the decision tree strategies helped a lot.

these are the scores i got in the question trainers:

qt1 52%

qt2 61%

qt3 53%

qt4 60%

qt5 53%

qt6 61%

qt7 58%

and for the qbank, i got 62% overall.

i also recommend, the ncsbn learning extension. i subscribed for the 3-wk review and just did the q&a parts. i find nclex similar to this one because nclex is more one-liner questions (like this one).

most importantly, don't forget to get this book: "prioritization, delegation, assignment" by linda lacharity. i say that this book is the one that helped me the most because it focuses on prioritization and delegation questions. practice, practice, practice with the prioritizations!!!

so for those who are about to take the exam, hang in there and have faith! if i can do it, you can do it too! :yeah:;)

good luck!!!

I just purchased the delegation book from amazon. I graduated on Saturday, so I just started to study. We did the online Kaplan course as part of our final semester, so I've already been through the question trainers, diagnostic, and readiness. Two weeks from now I am doing the in class Kaplan review (4 days), so I hope this helps.

I have Saunders and of course "The RN course book" from Kaplan, but I'm thinking of purchasing the strategies book too.

eeeee.

How many questions have you done per day?

My QBANK with 3,000 questions lasts about 45 more days (we had to purchase Kaplan in May). I've already answered about 900 because I used it to study for my final HESI.

congratulations forever heaven!

I tried all sorts of stuff and yet failed twice. I tried NCSBN and also enrolled with Kaplan complete but havent answered the question trainer 5-7 because i was saving it up for the last few days until my subscription terminated:cry:. Maybe it wasnt my luck but I'm not giving up! I wanna take and take NCLEX-RN until I make it.

I WANNA BE A NURSE - and this is my dream!

I'm in the same boat.. i'm determined to beat this test... because after all it's just a test... When your taking care of people they wont stop you and say "how many times did it take you to pass?" Good luck!! :redbeathe

Yes I know we can make it! With prayers and determination, I know we can make it. :typing

1,000, not 3,000. I wish.
