The semester is almost over and, of course, the tests are piling up. Anyway, during one of the tests, this girl, who's always been kinda "off," if you know what I mean, pulls out her notes and starts copying from them. She made absolutely no attempt to conceal what she was doing and it was very obvious.
Needless to say, the teacher walked over, told her to return the test and leave the class. The girl asked what the problem was, and the teacher told her cheating isn't allowed. Her response was, "But I need these notes so I can have the answers."
The girl started to argue that she didn't realize that what she was doing was cheating. The teacher repeatedly asked her to leave and, after the teacher said they would discuss it later, she finally left.
The girl then shows up for the next class, finally admits that what she did was "dumb and stupid," but she still claims she wasn't cheating and begs the teacher to let her retake the test. Instead, she got an automatic F for the entire course.
Kinda makes you wonder, like, what was she thinking?
What amazes me is the amount of time people will spend to cheat. Writing on their arm, inputting into a graphing calculator or other high tech means takes time. They could spend that time studying instead!
exactly! there is a girl in my algebra class that constantly wants to make comments during the test, she isn't cheating ande she is pulling a "b" but she doesn't seem to get that talking looks like you are cheating. I always smile briefly and don't say anything to discourage her chatting. I just really am sensitive about my reputation and I don't want to be known as a cheater. besides, the knowledge you get in one course builds to the next, so if you don't "get it" you are petty much SOL. :uhoh21:
Just the thought of getting kicked out of nursing school at this point for something so stupid as cheating is crazy. Just study and ask questions and there is no need for cheating. People amaze me.
What comes around goes around. They won't be able to cheat on the nclex & quite possibly never become a nurse as a result. Better to suffer through all of the reading & studying - it does pay off eventually.
I don't understand how people who cheat don't have a conscience about it. My teacher left a chart up for my Anatomy Lab final by accident and I still didn't look at it because to me that would be cheating too. I ended up doing really well on the lab anyway because I new the information I needed. I thought about looking at it because I new darn well that everyone else probably was, but I just felt guilty even thinking about it.

Yeah thats the funny thing...someone told my teacher and he still didn't take it down! I was surprised, but I wasn't about to look that way and have him think I'm cheating. The girl that told him, told him quietly though so no one got mad at her, but I'm sure there are some students who would have--the ones who didn't study.
I just wouldn't feel proud about my grade if I cheated and the pride in myself is what keeps me going through this whole Nursing venture. If it didn't make me feel good about myself and what I've accomplished I wouldn't do it and cheating, to me, takes away all opportunities for those feelings.
some of you may recall my ranting last semester of one person in particular in my class that was cheating...with the help of others. well, she had finally managed to p*ss off all of her "buddies" and she had gotten into a situation where she had to make like a 90 on her last 2 med-surg exams to pass...she did manage to pull off an 85 on the next to last one, but knew there was no way she could pull a 95 or higher out of the last one. she had to drop!! she says she coming back next january...i only hope she has learned her lesson and realizes she can't cheat her way through.
Geez, was she just not thinking or what? It seems pretty blatant to cheat in the open like that, and maybe the stress was getting to her. I've done some stupid things along those lines and meant no harm whatsoever...but I'm blonde...
In my EMS class, our instructor made it CLEAR to us that no cheating was allowed. He made sure to write it on our tests. Apparently several years ago, a paramedic student was taking his boards, and was cheating. When he was caught, he argued that nowhere on the test did it say he couldn't cheat, and no one told him otherwise. This even went to court. Now, there is a paramedic somewhere in good ol' NC who cheated on their boards! Do I want that person putting at ETT or doing a crich on me? Hell naw! -Andrea
This reminds me of our psych final. We are a small group, 8 in the class, and had a lot of fun with the instructor. We went over the answers at the end of the class, and I realized (along with half the class), that I had not read the instructions at the top of the page that said to WRITE the letter to the left of the question (multiple choice), so I circled the letter (as was required in previous tests).
When the instructor brought this up, one of the quick-thinking students said, "No where does it say to chose the correct answer."
We all had a good laugh, and the instructor did not take any points off for circling the answer!

That's pretty outrageous. Teachers have to fully disclose in writing that you can't cheat, otherwise, you can get away with cheating legally.
And this was in North Carolina? Wow. Truly bizarre.
