I am taking NRSE 4550 Spring 2 2013. Who else is in this class?
Hi Everyone,I'm soooo confused! Reading the study on teen mothers and infant massage, it says it involved a 2x2 mixed factorial design. First of all, I accept that I may be over complicating things (again); but if I understand this design there would be 4 arms in the study measuring two diffferent independent variables (oy). So, the indep variable would be experimental group with infant massage, control group no massage, that's two arms, what the heck would the other two be? Or does it even matter??? And am I completely alone in being totally lost on the tables and symbols? Statistics was two years ago, I'm in trouble!
I think you are making it a little too complicated. :)
Look at the requirements for an experimental study and see if this fits. We don't have to determine which type of experimental study. (I didn't anyway) If it doesn't fit that, then check for quasi-experimental.
I am, for the first time in the OU classes, having a hard time teaching myself the information and understanding.I have an 83% in the class and I am a nervous wreck about even passing it! the information is SO confusing to me, reading the book is like reading a foreign language, and the discussion posts and activities are so confusing! AHHH! I haven't been this stressed out in any of my other classes!
Have you used the on-line quizzes available from the book? They've really helped me focus my study.
Good luck. The extra credit might help bring up your grade more--you can do that as many times as you need to get them all right!
Hang in there!!

We all feel the pain. The book absolutely stinks. It is so hard to follow and the information becomes more complex and the chapter continues. I can't seem to get it together today. Just focusing on the topics in the study guide. I can't possible retain EVERYTHING in 4 chapters.

Teaching yourself is the key words... One would think that for all the money and time we are putting into this, that we wouldn't have to teach ourselves.. but that is the reality.
The only class that I really felt I was taught, was Elementary Statistical Reasoning.
That had a professor who actually put the material into lessons and did videos... that is teaching in my book.

I gotta disagree with you on that class. Maybe we had a different professor but I taught myself much of that material.....2 lessons per week. It was tough! I feel the same way about evidence.

Also, I took it in the summer as an 8 week course and didn't pair it up with anything else, so that might have made the difference.
