This is a discussion on Ohio University RN to BSN - NRSE 4550 -Evidence based practic

I am taking NRSE 4550 Spring 2 2013. Who else is in this class?

Has anyone started week 4 internal validity assignment yet? Seems like material from week 3. Just wondering if it is multiple choice, essay, timed? It states to refer to rubic but I don't see anything.

Hi everyone! Misery loves company!! I am in this "home school" Evidenced based nursing course as well! I have done terrible so far and will definitely drop my A average down to a hopefully B!! Test #3 wasn't too bad, but I feel like I never study what is important and there is no guidance! Week #4 looks terrible and I am not too sure how work and school is going to fit in this week. Good luck to everyone! For those of you who have not taken week 3 test--have your study guide by you at all times:)

At the risk of sounding like a jerk...isn't homeschooling what online schooling is all about. To a degree of course?

Yes, I have just not heard it put that way.

At the risk of sounding like a jerk too, on line is up to the student, you get out of it what you put in. I understand it is self directed, but other than reading the book, there isn't alot of instruction. I don't think it has to be that way. Directed learning is a lot different than what we do, ie. read this book, take this test and write this paper. We don't get the benefit of the knowledge of the instructor. The discussions board could facilitate new ideas and real dialogue between students, and instructor. However, instead it's just doing another paper in the disguise of discussion boards.

That's my take anyway.

I agree. Was hoping to get more out of this program but the quick pace and constant BS has made it unattractive. How much can we all possible contribute to the same exact DB posting??? I do things just to get it over with and move on. It's difficult to take in so much information at times!

I took a course at Univ of Phoenix and there was REAL dialogue between students. It was very well facilitated by the instructor. People bash that program as a diploma mill but I found the one course to be very good. I didn't much care for the subject matter, but the instructor did keep it lively and applicable.

I also have difficulty understanding why we do DB posts if there is no discussion involved. I would honestly love to have some real discussion with my classmates. I think that would help us to bring some different views.

Thank goodness, I studied soooo hard. 29/30 paid off!

Congrats! I did much better on this test as well. The study guide is the key wish we had had that on the first test, it didn't seem to help the way the last two weeks have. ONLY TWO MORE WEEKS TO GO!!!!

Yeah I guess it could be better. I didn't have a lot of preconceived hope that it was going to be a wonderful learning experience. I figured I would be teaching myself so I haven really been that disappointed. Especially since this is a bachelors program, we already have basic nursing knowledge, this is just building on what we already know. Now if this was a masters program, I would be driving from Philly to Athens demanding better. Just my opinion.
