Oh, how nursing changes you. I'm a new grad, been working a few months. I've never been in to pedicures but the more 12 hour shifts I spend running around, the more enticing they seem if only for the footrub part. I'm very close to getting over the ick factor of having a stranger touch my feet with tools of questionable cleanliness.
I have never had a pedicure, been in a Broadway show, assisted the people of Haiti, or taken a vacation overseas. Even though I cannot do these things now and may never be able to, it's worth it to hear, "You've really made this awful experience easier.". Nursing isn't my dream job, but I'll do my best to make it so. Good luck in your new career!
I feel this way most of the time too and I'm a massage therapist.lol. most places use a full sheet with a blanket on top of that and only un-drape one extremity at a time. If its a place that uses a towel (which is kinda old school or usually only used out of the U.S. or for specific modalities...such as lomi lomi etc.) then just request a sheet and say you get cold easily. I would hate for you to miss out on a new addiction simply because you think you would be exposed. haha
I really want to go for a massage...but I must admit that my greatest fear is that I will become so relaxed that I...uh...how shall I say...my gastric pyrotechnics are keeping me off the massage table. Unless I load up on large quantities of Gas-X, I think that getting a professional massage is an unattainable luxury for me.
Okay, I'm the weird one on this thread...lol
Have never ever had either a mani/pedi/massage. Tried once on a cruise, but was disgusted and couldn't relax anyway, so it was a waste of time and money.
However, I do enjoy surfing the internet and love to spend a couple of uninterrupted hours surfing AN!

lol. We were told, in massage school, to take stomach rumblings, drooling, burping, and passing gas as a compliment. I once had a lady (in a heavy Alabama accent) say, " ain't yall got no droolin' bucket?" I quickly placed the trash can below her head.
You should try Reflexology. Your supine the entire time and its and hour (ive done up to 2 hours, very deep work!!) only on the feet. I'm not sure about this, but I feel as though one has more control over there bowels when lying supine rather than flipping around etc.
