Hi everyone! I didn't find a thread for anyone applying to UT Health San Antonio's new BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia program with their first matriculating class starting in Fall 2024. I am making this thread because I plan to apply, and the deadline is coming up soon in March. I wanted to create a forum for any one applying as well! Post stats, updates, questions, thoughts and opinions, etc.

I attended their webinar, but didn't like the vibes. Plus they wanted a lot in my opinion before the deadline and won't let you finish anything prior to admission. For example wanted stats within 5 years. I graduated BSN in 2011. And they wouldn't waive my GRE although I already have a Masters. Most programs are doing away with GRE and only want chemistry within the last 3-5 years. So unfortunately, I won't be submitting. But good luck to you on your journey!

Hi I am planning on applying! This will be my first CRNA school application so I am very excited and my stats for this app will be as follows:
Last 60hrs GPA: 4.0
Overall GPA: 3.71
Ochem: A
Stats: A
GRE: TBD planning on taking it in two weeks
ICU Experience: 3 years total (2 years in a CVICU)
Professional experience: Nurse preceptor, I also participate in clinical ladder as an auditor for the unit, member of AACN, practice council member on my unit.
certifications: CCRN and CSC
I know most nurses that I have talked to are hesitant to apply to the UTHSCSA program because of the potential "growing pains" that the first cohort will most likely experience. However, I think it would be a great opportunity and responsibility to be the first cohort. PLUS my statistics are better aligned with this program.
Has anyone taken a KIRA assessment for CRNA school applications? I noticed that TCU and UTHSCSA have it listed as part of the NursingCAS application.

Same here, was considering applying but considering they just opened their application a few months ago with a deadline in March, not reasonable to meet all their requirements for this cycle by March. It would've been more realistic to complete their pre-req classes if it had been by matriculation.

I will be applying to the program as well. I did not attend the webinar, but the vibes do seem a lot less lenient than other school application processes! I wonder if the practice questions are the same as the actual Kira assessment or if it's different.
Stats are as follows:
Nursing Experience: 2.5 Years Cath Lab, 1.5 Years ICU
GPA: 3.4
OChem: A
GRE: 156 V 149 Q
CCRN Certified

Stats in the last 5 years??? Really, thats ridiculous. Thats a freshman level course in college. I can guarantee 90% of individuals have not taken that course within the last 5 years.
