I'm over The View. (not that I was ever under it)
I don't care if they are cancelled or not. I don't watch them, nor do I know anyone who does.
I am sick of women being paid to bash other women for "entertainment", though, especially when the bashed are nurses.
That's what I'm sooooooooo over.
IMO, it just makes nurses look foolish and defensive when we (as a group) get so worked up over such a minor matter. The comments reflect more on the ignorance of the show hosts than they do on nurses, and what difference does any of this make?
You should see how heated the nursing students are getting over this issue. I had to turn off my newsfeed because it was really starting to annoy me.
Yes, there were stupid things said. But what did you expect from such a stupid show? The retaliation has reeled in so many hateful, malicious comments from all people, and it is making the situation worse with all the publicity. I'm over it.
I can't be over hearing about The View debacle because it was an ignorant segment that should have never been aired. On top of insulting the nursing profession they also picked apart several other contestants. Completely unnecessary.
I think what I find so astounding is the ignorance. I never, ever thought the public was this in the dark about what nurses actually do. And now I feel as though I have all the evidence I need to support that. It's sad.
I agree with you 100%, OP. I mean, I understood where some people were coming from, but the way some commenters were posting, you would think that the hosts on "The View" called for the extermination of all nurses. I saw some comments and was appalled that people were getting so upset! I think we live in a "victim mentality" society and everyone is offended by something. Now, the comments made by "The View" were ignorant, but no one should lose their job behind something as petty as calling a stethoscope a "doctor's stethoscope." It's just not that deep, TO ME.
Let's recap: Miss Colorado gave a eloquent speech and was ridiculed on national television by two nasty comedians, one of whom had not even watched the clip and made an offhand snarky remark about a physicians stethoscope.
The next day the show's panel claimed to have great admiration for nurses but that their comments been misconstrued, taken out of context, and insinuated that the nursing audience didn't even listen. No. That is what THEY did to kelly Johnson but there was no
mention of her whatsoever.
To cap it off we were angrily schooled by Whoop Goldberg for being unable to recognize a joke and listen to the intention of the
discussion.
That counterattack was damage control and obviously reheorificed to deflect responsibity for insulting the profession and slandering a professional registered nurse.
This goes way beyond a thoughtless insult about a stethoscope. It is about these women taking cheap shots at a member of our profession and the value of the work that we do.

I"m sure that I will recieve a lot of negative comments from so many nurses. But I'm tired of this Stethoscope debackle. The View hosts are both ignorant and very opinionated, but one comment does not mean that they should be cancelled. I have been hit and cursed and spat on but I continue to do my job everyday. I still cant get over how many people are so upset and offended over her ignorant comment, when all of us have dealt with so much worse in the past.
As a current Cath/EP Lab nurse and previous ED nurse, I have dealt with so much worse from entitled brats to drunk ladies. I've heard it and seen it all. I have never seen a single episode of The View but I can say that I will not stand for the push to cancel them. We can not be that easily offended to cancel a television show over a stupid comment then go to work and have a drunk man throw a punch at me or have a little lady call me sexy.
I'm over the stethoscope.
