Anyone else getting the new pyxis? This one has a fingerprint identification pad. Very high tech stuff! There are some added features, too, such as an online drug guide.
We are supposed to go "live" in July. I have yet to be fingerprinted, though. We already have the new machine on the floor. Anyone else joining in? What do you think? I am wondering how we deal with registry floats/travelers, but I'm sure they have some system worked out. I guess I'll find out at the inservice.
Who really cares if someone "higher up" knows what our finger print looks like. In GA, we are fingerprinted when we get our drivers license. But the Pyxis rep was very reassuring about the subject. She wanted everyone to know that their fingerprint would not be sent to the FBI. But apparently she has been asked that question many times. No biggie to me. After having Pyxis at one hospital and then changing jobs to a hospital that still hand counted narcotics every shift - I LOVE THE PYXIS:p
i like the old pyxis just fine. and who has time to use the drug guides? like said above, it's impossible cause someone always wants in for meds. so it's not been a helpful feature to me. i always have to use the books anyhow. sounds like a waste to me. the old one works great for security.

Yes, it bothers me. We have had them for over a year and when something was said, it was brushed aside: "oh well, only pharmacy has it........." Like if somebody else higher up in co. wanted it they couldn't get it. Seems a bit Big Brother'ish to me. But maybe I'm just parnaoid.
