The letter......Spring 07

Who is waiting on the letter?

Where did you apply?

What type of program?

I'm hoping to hear from all of you that are as stressed out and hyped up as I am. :monkeydance:

[banana]I am in!![/banana]

I got my letter - I start Jan 2007. My orientation is in November. I am so excited/scared.

Oh crap, I forgot to hand deliver or use delivery confirmation when I mailed my letter of intent. They charged me a $350 matriculation fee, so since that was billed to my credit card, I guess I can safely assume they got it?

When I am accepted, I am driving over to the business office and paying cash to hold my spot. Then I am walking my letter of intent (with a copy of the receipt) over to the Nursing Department and dropping it off to the secretary unless the Director is available. The letter will show "ATTN Director of Nursing School" on the front. There will be no mistakes made by anybody but me if my letter of intent is not submitted on time. ;)

I am waiting on my letter with the rest of you. Our deadline was August 31. I got a letter last week, it was a very skinny envelope and I about died. It turned out to be for Phi Theta Kappa. I thought my heart was going to burst through my chest as I opened the envelope. I thought maybe I compared so poorly that they went ahead and told me quickly that I wasn't accepted. :jester: I can laugh about it now..... I have applied to El Centro Community College in Dallas. We should know in a couple more weeks. Good luck to all.

:lol2: :yeahthat: That also happend to me!!

Hi nrs2b.

May I ask--what is "earn as you learn?"

My sister is in an ADN program in BCC (South Florida), and she has contracted with a hospital to work for them after graduation (and they pay for her tuition/book/expenses while she's in school).

Is this the same sort of thing? And if so, where is it? (I'm in Florida too!)

Thanks and Congrats! That is REALLY exciting!!! :yelclap:

It is very similar and depending upon where you apply is books/tuition....but the program I applied for also PAYS you while you are in class and clinicals. That is something I just can't turn away. I am in the Tampa Bay area......and am doing it through Morton Plant. Hopefully.

I think i'll email my advisor and make sure they got it. Now i'm nervous ;)

:lol2: :yeahthat: That also happend to me!!

Are you guys joining?

Well, here is an update with me. Today I got a callback for a second interview for the earn as you learn program with my local morton plant here in the Tampa Bay area.....I'm so excited. I've talked with all the nurses I work with, including nursing supervisor (one of them) and asked for a letter of recommendation. Between my resume, that and copies of my performance review this should be an open and shut situation. Wish me luck!!!

Good Luck NRS2bNFL !!!!!!!

Really, I have not givin it much thought. I was going to look it over when we have a break . Are you a member? What do you know about this?

NRS2be, what schools are you applying to? I'm in Tampa also, tho I have a semester and half of prereqs yet. I'm planning on doing the accelerated program at USF. How do you find out about these kind of programs in the area? Do you need previous hospital experience or CNA licensure? Thanks, and good luck to you!
