The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Well I don't think Twois felt confused because you clearly said "They need to help us get through school already so we can start putting our energy towards helping people. Rather, then having to worry about how we are going to pay for school!"Also I'm sure Twois wasn't trying to put you down. There are others who seem to be pretty anxious about this scholarship, and for good reasons, but also seem that if they don't receive the scholarship, all hope to become a nurse is lost. Twois was just making a real point that the scholarship is such a long shot, we all need to think as if we are not getting it and put our plan b's into effect and if the scholarship comes through, then it's a pleasant surprise.
Yeah, basically.
No drama here. I don't put people down. No reason to. I don't have a problem having a public discussion over someone's public statements, but it's never with the intention of harm.
There's just a whole lot of anxiety going on over something none of us have control over and that, in the end, is not going to have a negative effect on anyone. There are only two outcomes here: either you get the scholarship, or nothing changes... a neutral outcome... you still wake up tomorrow, you still get to go to nursing school, you still have a whole new set of opportunities just waiting around the corner. Nobody's situation is going to get worse because of this. Ya know?
I totally get that getting the scholarship will make things a lot easier, trust me, I get that, but is not getting it - heck, only the possibility of not getting it - really worth all the stress? It's hard on your body! I mean, do you have your nursing textbooks yet? My fundamentals book has a huge section on stress and anxiety coping.... (okay, that's a bit flippant, but I hope my point and intentions are clear now.)
Ladies and gentlemen, we are all on the same team here. Can we move on and just ease up on eachother? We are all especially frustrated, especially those that have NOT rec'd any contact from HRSA.
Keep in perspective that words posted here can and will always be misinterpreted even when you have the best intentions.
No one is being hard on anyone. What causes the drama is when someone says, "Ease up, etc., etc." when there's nothing even going on. No one is bent out of shape here, except for those who are maybe misconstruing reality with something negative. I mean the posts on here are just that: a little dose of reality, which may in fact, at times, be a little blunt and to the point. They're not mean or belittling or anything else negative. Reality, unfortunately, isn't always going to be wonderful and happy and topped with whipped cream and cherries. It keeps things in check. When I got that email the other day, I was over the moon, but if I don't keep myself in check with reality, like the very real reality of NOT getting the scholarship and having a back up plan, then I am going to be even more disappointed when I get a rejection letter in September.
Listen, it's a message board. You can't hear the inflection in people's voices or see the expression on their faces. People need not to take everything so literally or personally and keep all that in mind before taking offense so easily. It seems like a mountain is being made out a molehill when there was never any ill intentions to begin with.
I bet Maninnursing is just eating this up right now :)
lol...maybe this will make us all feel better...I found this on the frequently asked questions page of the HRSA scholarship.
30. Can I make changes to my banking information after it has been submitted? No, only the HRSA staff can enter any relevant changes to the online banking information once it has been submitted and a "Receipt of Submission" is received by the applicant. However, the applicant can request a change to their banking information by completing the Banking Update Form, and mailing the completed form to:

Boy, when I get cancer...I want you to be the one to tell me. I like the part about reality being blunt and to the point.
Sigh. Actually, I said
a little dose of reality, which may in fact, at times, be a little blunt and to the point.
Didn't say it was always that way. There are obviously times where bluntness is inappropriate, and telling someone they have cancer, even though I know you were jesting, is definitely one of those times. I may be blunt, but I'm not heartless. Gosh, if someone told my uncle he had cancer like that, I would have been upset. Rest his soul.

Forgot to put in my disclaimer: no offenses were taken when writing the above post nor was I trying to offend
Tuition is due for me in mid-august. I will be sending a check in to pay it probably next week (I will be using my savings from the last 10 years of working + loans to cover any remaining costs to fund nursing school). If I end up getting the scholarship....it will be nice to see that money come back!!! If I don't receive the scholarship, I will definitely be looking into the different loan repayment programs available.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend and not stressing too much!
The fax number still works and so does my analyst's number. I tried the 800 number and its busy for me. The website, however is definitely down.....perhaps the server crashed? The page with the scholarship info and application is not working and actually, the entire Health Resources and Services Administration site is down, not just the scholarship part, so who knows.
