The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

My school is faxing the documents on Monday. I have a feeling that we all are getting this scholarship. All these steps mean something. They will not just send a breakdown of tuition and fees to the financial aid office if they were not really considering giving us this scholarship.

I agree totally!!! God is GOOD!!

Me too.

I didn't receive the first email, but got the one today? So very confused right now.

You need to call them. If you get someone who tells you "tough", then call back...keep calling until someone listens to you. They don't want to deal with us, however, that is part of their job...every year this scholarship is given out and every year there are a TON of us stressing out about it. They should be prepared for us and be able to answer our questions and concerns without giving us the run around. Call them.;)

I can not stand the financial aid department sometimes...My financial aid counselors stinks! He never returns calls or emails. When he does he says that he never got an email from me...pshhh thats why I forwarded the email that I had sent about a month before with no reply. Grrrrrr....I think its a great thing that we got the email by mistake because we can also bring it to the financial aid department and demand it be filled out and sent!! They can ignore emails and calls but what can they do when you show up in their office!!!! =]

Im so confused, this is such a mess...

I sill have not got anything...not even the first email. They told me on tuesday someone would get back to me about my status in 72 hours and no email or phone call yet.

They are still sending out emails....I heard this from the call rep. and from the guy that sent out the emails today.

"Hi Ms. XXX,

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Your email was put on the wrong list. The email was meant for the schools that the applicants had applied. We will contact you if we need additional documents by the end of next week. If you are selected, you will receive a letter by September 30th 2010. Sorry for inconvenience. Have a good weekend."

Did everybody get this last email? When I talked to the lady at the call center she said that No that it was only sent to some people. They must have been pulling our information from somewhere and not the HRSA database system because I changed my email address on Tuesday because I get to much spam in Yahoo. This came to my yahoo address so they were already in a database or they were coming off of our original applications. Also when you open up the spread sheet does it have your right degree in the degree column? My degree column says Baccalaureate and I am in a BS program.

Mine said that, too, but I am in an Associate degree program. So mine did not match.

For those forwarding the form to their school, there is no place to put the student's name, just the contact person's name and the school.

Maybe there was more than just one person that applied for the scholarship from each school so instead of sending out several emails they send out one?
