The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Britt7, I have the same question with you. I have to pay my tuition in August.

Hi...Britt 7

I think your right. We have to figure out a way to pay that semesters tuition by it's due date, then if we're lucky enought to receive the scholarship the school will bill hrsa and return the funds to where ever it is they came from. Although the I'm not sure what exactly happens to funds that were taken out as a govt./private loan.

Maybe someone has an answer for this one: They received my supplemental doc. yesterday ( I know cause I had it tracked), I filled out the online app. about two weeks ago and from what I understand my school mailed in the good standing report around that time frame as well. Do they let you know or is there any way to figure out if your application is complete? I already know about the online one, it's all the mailed in stuff that concerns me.

I think you can call and ask them if they received your paperwork. The date does keep changing. And from what I read from last years thread it kept changing on them too. My classes start in Aug. Why would they wait until Oct?? Crazy

Hi all! I just sent in my additional form packet ..phew talk about waiting until last minute! :grn:Now let the waiting begin. I am sure we will all be back in a couple of months anxiously asking if anyone has heard!

In the paperwork it says that they'll pay for tuition that has been paid as long as it wasn't paid for with other means of financial aid. Not loans, but grants or other scholarships. So you should be good and once HRSA pays you'd get reimbursed from your school!

Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Geesh..the whole application/ supplemental documents was a pretty rigorous process, glad that I mailed my package off today. I didn't have the school send off the verification of good standing paper, I just sent everything in one package. I hope thats ok?

Hey, I'm new to the site. I also applied for the program and I'm from the bay area. What school are you attending?

hey vincent,

is this similar to whats listed under your required supplemental document page?

supplemental documents:

unofficial transcript, letters of recommendation, good standing report, and essays are the only documents need to be submitted at this time. if selected for an award you will be contacted for additional documents.

hi,

i got the same list of supplemental documents but i called hrsa and was told not to go off that but to use the checklist instead. is that what you went off of?

When I logged in I saw this message " Required supplemental documents- Make sure we have all of your required documents (including the on-line banking portion) to make your application process complete." and then when I clicked on the "Required supplemental documents" I saw all the forms and essay questions.

I don't even know why I bother this because my EFC is $21233.

Hi,

Oh no. I didn't see anything about an online banking portion? Did anyone esle fill this out?

sweetbaby8614 - yeah that's okay, I did that too...didn't want anything to get lost! ;-) A friend of mine called them because her non-academic evaluator sent in the form and she was worried, they said it doesn't matter as long as it comes in the envelope as they request.

krazievi3t6url - this is the first I'm hearing of that too, I didn't see anything about a banking form!

It is my understanding the online banking portion will be the next step in the application process. I went off the checklist which didn't say anything about banking information.

I sent both of my eval letters separately-- I don't know if it matters but the the addresses were a little different. The supplemental forms said c/o document center and the letters said c/o call center.. It may be the same thing but to play it safe I sent them separately.
