  1. Anyone from Colorado get an email yet??? Still keeping my fingers crossed!!! :)
  2. Congrats to everyone...no email for me yet, but not giving up hope! Is everyone from the first funding group who's getting the letters?
  3. Slimlady727 - Congrats, how awesome!!! Did they check your credit? If so, which reporting agency had it on there?
  4. Been awhile since I've been on here...looks like everyone is stressing too! I'm trying not to think about it and start back at school tomorrow, so hopefully that'll keep me busy and not constantly thinking about this! ;-) I've also read in previous forums that it's always been last minute notifications, like between 9/15 - 9/30, never in July as much as I'm sure they'd love to get us off their backs, lol. I was thinking, when everyone posts about their credit getting checked, please say which credit reporting agency you saw them use (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian), because most places don't check all three! Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. sweetbaby8614 - yeah that's okay, I did that too...didn't want anything to get lost! ;-) A friend of mine called them because her non-academic evaluator sent in the form and she was worried, they said it doesn't matter as long as it comes in the envelope as they request. krazievi3t6url - this is the first I'm hearing of that too, I didn't see anything about a banking form!
  6. In the paperwork it says that they'll pay for tuition that has been paid as long as it wasn't paid for with other means of financial aid. Not loans, but grants or other scholarships. So you should be good and once HRSA pays you'd get reimbursed from your school! Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
  7. Does anyone know if they have the access to verify your EFC or is it just what you submit on the SAR? What if it changes after applying, what happens? Thanks so much!!!
  8. I'm not sure what accelerated program you're talking about, they don't have one...well really all of their programs are I guess. lol It's pretty easy to get into as long as you have all of your pre-req credits, however don't let that fool you. I definitely feel like it's very competitive (lots of smart students!) and I'm getting a great education. Someone mentioned to me that their clinical preceptor told her that her group was one of the most prepared and best they had seen and they have students from CU, Regis and anywhere else. :) We have a visit from the NLN and regional accreditation people at the end of this year, so we should have those within a year!
  9. denverstudent - everyone is different, but right now I work 30 hours a week (since I don't have to take patho)...I am just hoping to somehow work 20 hours a week for the rest of the program, but I'm not sure how that will happen. Like I said tho, I'm just going to see how each quarter schedule is, luckily my job is super flexible. :) But a friend of mine just finished the 4th quarter and she had 3 days of 12 hour clinical shifts and two full days of classes, so not sure how I'll get any work in, ha-ha...but usually we won't have a clinical schedule like that. If you really want to be a nurse, do whatever you have to do to make it happen, it'll be worth it! Try not to get too stressed out in the money (I know that's hard, I was majorly stressed at first).
  10. denverstudent - yeah, I'm working (for now). It definitely helps since I don't have to take patho, but I'm so jealous of the people who aren't working. I don't have the option to not work and will have to reevaluate each quarter. I know at some point I'll have to stop working and take out a loan, but I figure the later I can do that, the better! mkggirl - DON'T BE WORRIED AT ALL! :) I have worked in the medical field, but it's been YEARS, so it hasn't really helped me much. There are a ton of people in our class who have zero medical experience. Seriously, they will prepare you! I don't know if this is an option or not, but maybe there is an accelerated CNA class you can take before you start in April. I wish I had my license, I'd definitely be getting a job as a CNA for a couple of reasons...so I could be in the medical field and it might come together easier, but really so that I'd get more experience and it would give me an edge when looking for a nursing job. Let me know if you guys have any other questions! :)
  11. You probably won't get the schedules until about 3-4 weeks beforehand. I started the BSN this month and they sent us our schedules the beginning of December, but stated they were tentative (it ended up being the same schedule). To give you an idea, our schedule is: Monday: 7:30 - 5:15 (altho our teacher changed the class to starting at 8am, another hour to sleep or study, lol) Tuesday/Wednesday: OFF Thursday: 9 - 6 Friday: 9 - 2:30 If you've already taken patho (I HIGHLY recommend taking it beforehand if you can, you won't regret it!) you'll start at Noon on both Thursday and Friday. Good luck!!!
  12. All of the hospitals say you need to graduate from an accredited program, however not all of them are as stickler as University and Children's. I've recently spoken with Denver Health (where I want to work, so the only one I called lately) and they are hiring DSN graduates. Just to give an update...DSN is in NLN candidacy, their website just hasn't been updated since August 2009. Also, we (I'm a current student) have our visit set for September for regional accreditation and are anticipating having that by the end of the year! PHEW! :)

The testing actually happens shortly after you call in, hopefully. ;-) When I did it last summer (I just started this week in the BSN program), they were doing testing on Friday's and got in the following week. You want to do it ASAP as you can't officially enroll and save your spot until you've completed the HESI tests. If you're calling in April, you should be fine to be gone this summer, don't worry! :) With regards to financing, the reason they can't tell you is because every single person has a different situation. Some qualify for more federal grants than others, some people have used some of their loans for the year, etc. I have about 7k that isn't covered. There are several options though, so don't let that discourage you. I would guess the reason they don't let people talk to the finance people until they are enrolled is because they can only handle so much and if you had everybody who was interested in there, it wouldn't be feasible. You get to talk to them in plenty of time of starting! I took patho in advance, a friend of mine who started last year highly recommended it. I'm so glad I did! This quarter is hard enough, I can't imagine having that hard of class as well. ;-) You should definitely consider taking it this semester if you can!!! Let me know if you have anymore questions!
  14. Hmmm. that's a good question, I don't know. I would guess so, but you should definitely ask Kelly or Jim. I am in the BSN, so I had to take more math (ugh). I went to Red Rocks too, loved it! :)
  15. Yeah the patho class saved me like 2k alone!!! You take the classes listed each quarter, there's no way to take more. It's a very rigorous schedule, so you won't want to, lol. Let me know if you have any other questions!
