I don't think the GPA, essays or anything else had anything to do with their decisions. This is the first year they have even ever had any of those requirements. I'm a third year BSN with a 3.98 GPA. Single mother, 0EFC, excellent references and good essays and I did not get an email. I don't think they even took the time to look at all of that.
just wondering if anyone spent a good amount of time on their essays? man, it took me like a month.
nope, i wrote my essays about 10 mins before i went to the post office. they were each about a paragraph long...i didnt have time to be tedeous with them because i was in the process of having about 6 exams in a 10 day span, which included finals. i figured those were more important.
It could be so many factors, and I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps you can try again next year. I read on the 2009 hrsa recipients, a lady applied 2 or 3 times and finally got accepted.Just wondering if anyone spent a good amount of time on their essays? Man, it took me like a month.
I didn't spend a whole lot of time on mine because I literally found out about the scholarship at the last minute. But, I have always been excellent and essay writing and I feel they were good ones. I also had some great reference letters.
I am wondering if maybe my school might have classified me as part time. The people working in the office are far from geniuses.
Anyone from Indiana get their email? Im just curious, kind of got my hopes down now & could really use the scholarship-as we all can ! But I was first fuding group, enrolled in a BSN program full time, 0 efc, had great references and spent a good amount of time on my essays. Not sure why I wouldnt get it, but maybe better luck next year!

I am sorry to hear that you didn't get an email, but i think they may still be sending them out. But I didn't really say that the essays played a significant role in their decision or not. Who knows how they determine their candidates? I was just wondering how long it took others to write them. I struggled with the questions a lot because I didn't want to sound repetitive.
Perhaps the essays are what they will consider in the final round? Deciding between 2 people? I don't know. They asked us to write them for a reason I suppose.
For all you waiting on emails, don't give up! I didn't get mine until 3:26 p.m. Central time. I've been following this board (but not posting) since the beginning! I felt so sad and depressed that everyone else was getting notification and I didn't get any...til today! I'm in Tennessee, have an EFC of 0, and will be full-time in a two-year program. I had my stuff faxed in an hour later. A double-whammy for me today; the Senate extended unemployment benefits today for those who had them expire, so I'll get backpay for that as well. God has been good to me...no sooner than I had rejoiced over getting my unemployment back, I got this scholarship email! Please, y'all don't lose faith. :redbeathe

Yeah, I did a solid set of revisions on mine. Probably spent the better part of a week looking over them and working on them for a while each night. I found them sort of... repetitive? Not entirely, but my answers seemed to overlap each other a lot.
