The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Us that don't have an EFC of 0 don't automatically get disqualified. Just because I don't have an Efc of 0 doesn't mean I don't need the money. I'm hoping my letters get me some points, but please don't rule us out just because you have an efc of 0. Even if it's not me, I hope someone that doesn't have an efc of 0 gets the scholarship.
I agree the guidance for funding says that if you are working on your undergrad then AND/OR a EFC of 0 then your in the first funding group
I was just looking at the HRSA website and I saw this:
How does the NSP determine which applicants will receive scholarships?
Funding is based on the student's expected family contribution which is provided on the student aid report.
The following funding preferences will be used to make NSP awards:
To the extent that funds remain available, applicants in the third funding preference will be considered in the order of decreasing need.
So, it sounds like you can only get it if your EFC is 0. Is that right?
Well, I wish they would let us know something very soon. I have already accepted another scholarship so if we don't hear before school begins, I won't be able to accept this one even if I do get it.
I don't understand what is taking so freakin long! I'm sure there have tons of employees processing these things!
I also have the 0 efc and I gave up another scholarship waiting for this one because it didn't give me enough money to pay for all my tution for the remaining 2 1/2 years of my program. Plus I would still have a service committment. It was dumb to give it up but I just wanted to get thru school with less stress about how I am going to pay for books and my tutition.( my school is super expensive)
The other scholarship I have been offered does cover all my tuition and books and things but there's no stipend.
Funny, I just got an email JUST NOW from my school's financial aid director. I got the impression that she is trying to discourage me from taking a scholarship that requires a service commitment. Really, though, these days it seems like all good scholarships DO require service commitments.
I called before I went through all the trouble of getting my rec letters and paperwork filled out, and the person who answered told me to just turn everything in even though I didn't have an EFC of 0. The way she said it made it seem like there's still a chance for me to get the scholarship. I understand my chances are slim, but at least I know I tried. You never know, what if a lot of the EFC's of 0 get disqualified for one reason or another. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, this year they are giving more than twice the number of awards that they had previously given. I wonder if they will award an EFC of 500 with amazing rec letters and essays, versus an EFC of 0 with okay rec letters and okay essays. Yes, I understand what they have posted on their website pretty much reads EFC of 0 supercedes anyone with an EFC greater than 0, but really, whats 500 compared to 0. I guess we shall see.

You're right. It definitely can't hurt to apply and see what happens.
But, the EFC is the main determining factor, not essays and recommendations.
