The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to put my 2 cents in and ask some questions.
I applied to the NSP last year and did not get the award. I was qualified in the first funding preference group. EFC has to be zero or you have no chance. The notification that i got said there were over 425 applicants and only 189 awards.
I do not recall there being an income limit but im sure that is how they decided who got the award out of the first preference group. i made about 22K in 2008.
I notice someone say something like last year they made too much, but this year they are eligible. can you tell me what you mean and where you found the info? it would be nice to know if there is a limit. last year so many of us were on here waiting everyday for notification.
They were supposed to announce awards by sept 1st but it was mid october before i finally got my rejection notice.
also, anyone apply last year and applying again? my application info has all my stuff on it from last year (when i log in) and says all of my supplemental documents are completed. im not clear if i have to submit new information or not. when you call the 800 # it like a 20-30 minute wait on hold.
thanks! angel
is there a list of facilities that have nursing shortages?
did you ask for this one?
what sites are eligible?
nsp participants must provide full-time or part-time clinical service in a health care facility with a critical shortage
of nurses located in a state. by statute, eligible health care facilities include:
1. types of eligible facilities
a. ambulatory surgical centers;
b. federally qualified health centers (including look-alike health centers) (see
c. home health agencies;
d. hospice programs;
e. hospitals;
f. indian health service health centers (see http://www.ihs.gov);
g. native hawaiian health centers (see http://bphc.hrsa.gov/about/specialpopulations.htm);
h. nursing homes;
i. rural health clinics (see http://www.cms.hhs.gov/center/rural.asp);
j. skilled nursing facilities; and
k. state or local public health departments including public health clinics within the departments
here is the link for finding a shortage facility in your area. hrsa - find shortage areas: hpsa & mua/p by address - version 2.0
Character counts do not include spaces (this from my computer programmer husband).
The recommendation letters need to be in a sealed envelope from your (professor, mentor, community leader...) with their signature across the seal. It doesn't say if they have to be mailed separately, but I'm sure that, as long as they are in a sealed envelope that it would be okay even if they were inside your manila envelope.
As far as the work commitment, there is a search you can do on the HRSA.gov website that tells you what facilities are considered to be underserved. Pretty much everything where I live is considered underserved, with the exception of private practices (which don't generally hire new grads anyway).
Hope this helps. Good luck ladies!
I would suggest no... Because EFC of 0 is required to be considered.
It's not "required", but they give funding preference to individuals with an EFC of 0.
Also, I'm getting conflicting information from their website. On one form it says an unofficial transcripts from your current institution is required, but then on another form it says an unofficial transcripts from ALL institutions previously attended is required.
Any insight on that?

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do! I was just wondering what everyone else was doing.
Good luck!
