The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

I'm fairly certian that the NSP scholarship spkoen about inthis thread is for undergraduate degrees only, so the CRNA degree would not qualify for it. But, HRSA does have some graduate loan programs, so I'd go take a look at what they have to offer!

Appreciate your help...

Honestly, there isn't much else you can do. You have to first and foremost be part of the first funding group and then just make sure you turn in everything. We had to write essays but I do not think mine were spectacular by no means, so I really don't think you have to worry on that account. Good luck!

Dear SunrayGirl Which month did you apply? And regarding the letters of recomandation how do they work, do they have to be completed and mailed by the chair of nursing dept of the school?

Thx :coollook:

I sent everything in together, certified/express mail about 1 week before the deadline. I was so busy with finals and stuff that I finally had all my paperwork including transcripts, essay, and recommendation letters ready to go then.

I just made sure the that recommendation letters were sealed and stamped/ or signed at the seal by the person/organization who wrote it.

I think the smartest thing you can do is send everything together and send it certified so you can make sure that they got it.

I think my essay was decent but it wasn't like the best in the world.

Honestly they didn't really divulge how they made decisions except for being in the first funding group.

Good luck!

Thanks a Lot Morningdew, very helpful, can I ask who wrote your recommendation letters?

I had my pre-nursing advisor write a recommendation and the president of the state conference of my church.
